The Law Society is seeking mentors to join our Mentor Connect program, as we have a growing number of eager mentees ready to be matched.

Mentor Connect allows mentees to self-match with mentors and build a one-on-one relationship over a six-month period. Lawyers who have practised at least five years, including inactive and retired lawyers, are eligible to participate as mentors in the program. Experience from other jurisdictions also counts toward the five-year requirement.

The Alberta Law Foundation’s 2025 Annual Report is now available.

In the Foundation’s 2024–25 fiscal year, $65.8 million was awarded through 126 grants — more than triple the previous year’s value. This landmark investment reflects a bold strategic direction focused on advancing access and equity in Alberta’s justice system.

Highlights include a historic $26.8 million grant to the University of Calgary for the Centre for Transformation in Family Justice, and nearly $5.9 million distributed through the Youth Legal Initiatives Fund to 13 organizations supporting marginalized youth. The Foundation also expanded its reach to 29 new grantees, many serving rural and remote communities with culturally sensitive, trauma-informed legal supports.

The Foundation extends its gratitude to Alberta’s legal community and nonprofit partners for their continued commitment to building a more just and inclusive province.

The Honourable James A. Hunter, Chief Justice, has authorized changes to the Alberta Court Calendar as required for the Alberta Court of Justice Grande Prairie location reflecting changes to Domestic Violence sittings effective immediately. See the Stakeholder Letter.
