In accordance with the SAME Sacramento Post bylaws, the Nominations Committee is proceeding with the election of officers and directors for 2021-2023 term. This notice is to encourage any member of our Sacramento Post wanting to help set the direction and execute the mission of our Post for 2021-2023 to make these wishes known to the Nomination Committee.
Serving on the SAME Sacramento Post Board allows you to the opportunity to craft the future direction of the Post. Board Members carry out SAME‘s mission of serving our community and supporting our military. Our community support includes our scholarship program for college and high school students, DOD Starbase Program, and supporting numerous local charity organizations by providing monetary donations as well as volunteering time and expertise.
Directors serve on the Board, along with the elected Officers, and are responsible for providing policy direction, setting the theme for annual programs, approving the annual budget, and performing such other duties as may be necessary to carry out effectively the purposes of the Post. There are a total of six Elected Director positions with half expiring each year, and if elected, will serve a two year term.
Additional Directors may be appointed to one year terms by the elected Post President. Board members are encouraged to chair or participate in Post committees. Committees include:
- Membership (recruiting members)
- Annual Conference (organizing and staffing)
- Readiness (emergency response planning)
- Annual Golf Tournament (organizing and selling)
- Monthly Meetings/Programs (planning and staffing)
- Student Scholarships (screening applications)
- Charitable Works (support to national and local charities)
- Interface with Student Chapters (Sacramento State and UC Davis)
- Interface with Field Chapters (Beale AFB or Travis AFB)
- Young Professionals (recruiting and planning)
- Communications (member outreach)
This notice is your chance to volunteer for a leadership position within the Sacramento Post. The elections will be held in April/May 2021 and the new Board will be installed in June. You may nominate yourself for placement on the election ballot, or recommend another interested individual to the Nomination Committee. If you do not want to be named on the ballot, please feel free to indicate in what capacity you wish to volunteer.
Anyone serving in any capacity on the SAME Sacramento Post Board must be either an individual member or a sustaining member firm representative of the SAME Sacramento Post.
