The One Health Commission (OHC) announces an open call for nominations and applications for individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Nominate someone who you think would be a good leader for the OHC, or apply yourself.

Candidates are sought who can span multiple disciplines and who have experience with engaging community voices. We require at least one representative from each of these essential domains:


Environmental

Human

Other Animal

Plant


Individuals with expertise and/or experience in research, teaching, policy and/or practice in one or more of the following disciplines are encouraged to apply: anthropology, biology, communications, ecology, economics, engineering, epidemiology, ethics, health (human, other animal, plant, environment/ecosystem), law, political science, psychology, sociology, and welfare/wellbeing.



Essential Qualifications



Demonstrated expertise in and commitment to

the One Health approach

Strong network connections within your domain and/or region

Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant field

Proficiency in English

Ability to collaborate across disciplines and sectors


Key Responsibilities


Board members will agree to:


Governance: Set policy and provide strategic leadership for organizational goals and sustainability


Meeting Participation: Attend a minimum 75% of Board meetings (60-90 minutes each)


Committee Service: Participate in at least one Board committee


Annual Retreat: Attend an annual, all day, Board retreat (online and/or in-person)


Time: Estimated commitment is an average of 3-6 hours per month


Candidates should be prepared to make a personal commitment to the work of the OHC through in-kind donations of time and effort and/or a financial donation of any size.

Board terms are typically three years. However, in this call, options of one, two, or three-year terms of service with staggered renewal cycles will be offered to ensure continuity.
