The Russia Program conference is designed to convene leading and emerging scholars specializing in Russian studies. It aims to showcase insights on studying Russia within the context of war and to discuss the implications on Russian society, governance, economy, and international relations with the Global South.
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, The Russia Program has been dedicated to developing innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches for Russian studies to keep the field alive. This includes the establishment of a digital research laboratory providing open access to Natural Language Processing codes and databases, examining attitudes through consumer behaviors, and modeling behavior through analysis of language patterns on the internet, among other initiatives.
In line with these efforts, our new conference, planned for April 17-18, 2025 in Washington, D.C., will bring together experts from various fields to merge the seasoned perspectives of established scholars with the innovative approaches and tools developed by early-career researchers.
The event will feature significant opportunities for networking and collaborative workshops. The Russia Program will extend invitations to policymakers, prominent academic research sponsors, journalists, and analysts to foster a richer dialogue around scholarly research. The Russia Program covers all travel expenses.
If you are interested to present your research on the wartime Russian governance, society, economy, and Russia’s relations with the Global South, you can submit your proposal using this application form. The application must include a one-page topic proposal and CV. The deadline for submissions is February 7. We will come back to you with the results by February 21.
