Call for International Conference Submissions
The 2019 APPAM International Conference in Barcelona, Spain will be held from July 29 – 30, 2019. The theme is "Public Policy Under Rapid Global Changes."

Both the conference theme and the vibrant Catalan destination offer an excellent opportunity for a wide range of session paper and poster presentations relating primarily to rapid global changes. Given the conference location in a region making news for major cultural and economic developments, we especially invite submissions that address health, quality of life, social well-being and inequalities in the midst of massive political and social upheaval.

Why an International Conference specifically? The answer concerns APPAM’s mission to improve public policy and management by fostering excellence in research, analysis, and education. To help further this mission, APPAM strives to feature the important work of researchers from around the world. Toward that end, APPAM has jointly hosted an International Conference with an institutional member since 2016. Past conferences have covered important global themes such as the challenges of inequalities, governance beyond borders, and sustainable metropolitan development. This coming July, we expect to continue our efforts by highlighting innovative research on worldwide issues.

So join us at the Barcelona campus of the John Hopkins University - University Pompeu Fabra (JHU-UPF) Public Policy Center, our host for the conference, next summer. Submissions are open now until February 13, 2019!

Call for Program Committee Reviewers:

We are looking for individuals to join the International Conference Program Committee, which reviews the submissions for our Barcelona conference. Reviewers are essential to efficiently evaluate proposals and to ensure the quality of session offerings for conference attendees.

Reviewers will evaluate the submissions based on a predetermined set of criteria. The number of abstracts assigned to reviewers varies, and it is dependent on the total number of submissions and the number of reviewers. However, each reviewer is typically assigned around 15 -20 abstracts (max of 250 words each). Reviews will take place between Monday, February 18, 2019 and Friday, March 15, 2019. Each reviewer will be sent a link to review the submissions to which they have been assigned. The policy area chair will lead the team to set internal deadlines or checkpoints for the review process.

Abstract reviewers must be current APPAM members. If your membership has expired, you’ll be promptly asked to renew your membership in order to participate on the International Conference Program Committee.

If you are interested in serving on the Program Committee for the 2019 APPAM International Conference, please email Tristanne Staudt , tstaudt@appam.org , no later than December 31 st with your name, affiliation, CV, and the policy area for which you would like to review submissions.
