Requesting Virtual Presentation Proposals

The Special Needs Advocacy Network is seeking proposals for virtual training workshops for the 2022-2023 Professional Development calendar.

The purpose of the Special Needs Advocacy Network is to develop and promote a functioning and supportive network of child advocates in the field of education. Providing opportunities for continuing education and professional development is an important element of the organization.

The theme for the 2022-2023 Professional Development Programming Calendar is

OUTCOMES

As child advocates supporting special education students, the work that we do is centered on ensuring students receive FAPE. With every stage of education, from preschool to age 22, the focus is on successful outcomes.

Do you have a topic you are interested in sharing with our membership? All training should focus on knowledge and excellence in advocacy. Workshops should include content knowledge and skill development.

There is a particular interest in sessions that discuss/address (but not limited to):

  • Mediation and Negotiation Skills
  • Transition Planning for Successful Adult Outcomes
  • Using Resources such as OSEP, DESE, OCR
  • Defining and Measuring Effective Progress
  • Using State and Federal Options for Dispute Resolution
  • How to build a case for success at Due Process
  • Legal Review of current State and Federal Cases

SPaN's audience includes attorneys, advocates, parents, students, partners, and related educational professionals.

The 2022-2023 Programming calendar is September through June.
