CWDB Accepting Letters of Intent for 'Breaking Barriers to Employment' Funding
The California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) is accepting letters of intent to apply for funding for Breaking Barriers to Employment. The funding is intended to supplement existing workforce and education programs that provide services designed to ensure the success of individuals who are preparing to enroll in programs or already are enrolled in programs.

The Legislature has appropriated $15 million in general funds to Breaking Barriers to Employment, though the budget change proposal for funding to implement the initiative is pending final budget action by the Legislature. A final decision is expected in July.

The letters of intent will give the workforce development board an idea of how much interest is out there and any changes that may need to be made to the request for applications (RFA).

You can find the link to the letter of intent template on this  California Workforce Development webpage , as well as learn more about the funding opportunity.  When submitting, use the email subject line “AB111-LOI.” Letters of intent are due by June 10 at 3 p.m. PST.
'Amending Your 19-20 CFAD' Archived Webinar Now Available
Last week we shared news about the 19-20 California Adult Education Program (CAEP) allocation being reduced by $1,043,000, due to the governor's May revise. And on Thursday, we hosted a webinar that explained the allocation change and provided a walk through of the amendment steps in NOVA.

If you missed that webinar, you can now access it on our website. Go to our Fiscal Data Reporting page. T he slide presentation and the recorded webinar are the first two links at the top of the page.
Call for Proposals for 2019 CAEP Summit
Session slots are limited and the deadline is fast-approaching – submit your promising practice proposal today!

The sharing of promising practices was one of the main needs identified in the 2018-19 needs assessment. Take this opportunity to showcase emerging and promising practices within your adult education program. We know you're already thinking about a practice related to data and accountability, as part of the funds close-out (see newsletter item below), but we also are looking for promising practices that apply to other areas of your program.

CAEP wants to hear from you!

Promising Practice Needed to Close Out
Data and Accountability Funds
Please remember to complete the data and accountability Practice with Promise form that feeds into our Practice with Promise website.

In order to successfully close out data and accountability funds, a promising practice must be submitted. For more information,  see the links on our website  to data and accountability information.

Data and accountability-funded activities must end by June 30, 2019 . Consortium leads should have received their passwords last week (in case they forgot them).

The second expenditure report for these funds is due by July 31, 2019, with the final report due by Aug. 26, 2019 (using the old Chancellor's Office MIS Webex fiscal system). The second expense report summary should be a high-level write-up on how the consortium met its work plan objectives.
