CALL TO ACTION:
SPECIAL REDISTRICTING MEETING 10/14/21

IMMEDIATE ATTENTION REQUIRED ON PROPOSED REDISTRICTING MAPS FOR EL DORADO COUNTY SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICTS

The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce sent a request on September 27, 2021 to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors asking that a goal for redistricting include EDH be divided into two districts, each with approximately 23,303 residents. The Chamber believes that for any map to meet the mandates of common interest and compactness, and to ensure that the suburban communities of the Western Slope of El Dorado County are legally and fairly represented, the new redistricting maps need to include two districts with a majority of suburban representation.

The County Surveyor’s Office responded with a redistricting map alternative, EDH Chamber Alternative-Option 5, which allocates the El Dorado Hills zip code area population evenly across two districts. About 23,000 of the total 46,000 population has been assigned to District 1. District 1's target population of +/- 38,000 is reached by adding an area from Cameron Park. The other 23,000 from El Dorado Hills zip was assigned to District 2. District 2's target population of 38,000 is reached by adding the south county rural areas.

We’re encouraged that the Surveyor’s team responded to our request and provided an option that more fairly represents EDH. This is a work in progress, and your input is needed to finesse this alternative map. EDH business owners and residents are strongly encouraged to log on to the
