Dear Friends of Flavor --

We know you love local food, and we know you love watching cooking shows on TV. Here's a way you can combine both those passions.

Our dear friends John and Diane MacPherson, owners of a bed & breakfast in the rolling hills of Rappahannock County (also home to Flavor) are pioneers in the local food movement. And they've received a green light from PBS to launch "In Season" -- a national cooking show featuring the champions of local, seasonal, and honest foods from across the country. But the MacPhersons need the funding to produce it.

They have just over two weeks left to raise the money on Kickstarter. A lot of local food heroes are pitching in, but we need your help too. The MacPhersons have set up a rewards program for different contribution levels (details here), including dinners and stays at their B&B (they'll take any amount you can spare to spread the word). If they don't get meet their fundraising goal, no credit cards will be charged. (And we hear from your pals at Red Truck Bakery that if  you donate $20 or more and forward Brian Noyes your confirmation note, he'll give you a Red Truck Bakery baseball cap and a discount code for future orders.)

Help us put two of Virginia's local food heroes on the national map (and national TV!)

Best wishes,

In Season Promo
In Season Promo

Hello from John and Diane,
For three years, we've been working hard to make our show In Season a reality. Last year, when PBS sent us a letter stating that they wanted the show, we thought we'd crossed the biggest hurdle. Little did we know that nearly a year later we'd still be trying to secure funding. That's why we've set a deadline of 40 days to get this project off the ground; If we can't make significant progress in that time, we've decided we need to shelve the project, despite PBS's commitment.
We're not going to rest during these next 40 days. With your help -- even a contribution of just one dollar -- we'll be a step closer to making our dream a reality. We have some great rewards lined up for people who provide funding. For example, $100 will get you a digital download of the pilot episode, an exclusive In Season t-shirt, embroidered cook's apron and your name listed on the In Season Web site as someone who made the show possible. There are more rewards to entice you including titanium Schmidt Brothers knives, overnight stays at the Foster Harris House, private dinners and even a day on location when we're shooting an episode.
If you've already contributed to the In Season Kickstarter fundraising effort, many, many thanks!  If you haven't, you can make your pledge here.  Kickstarter's credit card processing is powered by Amazon (safe and secure), which acts as a escrow account for your credit card information until the project end date.  If we don't reach our fundraising goal of $125,000 by March 24, 2012, we don't get any of the funds pledged (i.e. no money changes hands, Amazon deletes your credit card information and the project simply goes away).

Thanks again for your help!
John, Diane and the In Season crew.
