MEDICAID TECHNICAL AMENDMENTS BILL IN TROUBLE: The two Medicaid Technical Amendments (Med Tech) bills are in limbo right now. SB 2799 and HB 1008 remain in conference committee and the conferees (committee members) are having trouble finding common ground in order to strike a compromise.
MEDICAID APPROPRIATION BILL: Meanwhile, the Division of Medicaid appropriation bill, HB 1400, if passed without a Med Tech bill, would give the Governor's Office the authority to run the Division without any input from the legislature. The only legislative guidance for running the Division is provided in the Med Tech bill.
TAKE ACTION NOW. Call your representatives and senators, then call the Lt. Governor's office and the Speaker's office. Ask them to HOLD the Medicaid Appropriation Bill (HB 1400) until the House and Senate pass a Med Tech bill. Protect Medicaid beneficiaries and physicians by voting NO on HB 1400 until a Med Tech bill is passed.
