State lawmakers target Medical Assistance loophole to close budget deficit.
In an attempt to fund the state budget, Pennsylvania state legislators are considering adding premiums on coverage for children with disabilities who are receiving Medical Assistance (Medicaid).

This applies to families who receive Medical Assistance through Category PH-95 (loophole). Most families already pay a premium for their private insurance, but their child with a disability needs Medical Assistance to supplement costs and services not covered by their primary coverage.
asking them to:
  • leave Medical Assistance through PH-95 alone.
  • not add premiums on coverage for children with disabilities, as included in HB 1354, p28, line 16.
  • protect coverage so ALL children in Pennsylvania have access to the services they need.
