Please make calls for AB 631 (Lee) which will be voted on by the Senate Business & Professions Committee, this coming Monday, June 9th at 10am!

AB 631(Lee), Animal Shelter & Rescue Data Collection Act

Requires animal shelters and rescues to report their intake and outcome data on their websites or a third-party website, making it publicly available for at least five years. If they do not have a website, then the data must be available upon request. Despite lawmakers urging action to address pet overpopulation, we currently lack a systematic method for tracking how many animals enter and exit our shelters and rescues. 

Please call the committee Chair and Vice Chair if you are limited for time. Otherwise, please call all the members and urge their support of AB 631.

Three SCIL sponsored bills passed out of their originating house yesterday:

AB 478 (Zbur) final vote 78-0

AB 347 (Kalra) final vote 68-3

SB 221 (Ochoa Bogh) final vote 36-0

We are so grateful to our authors, and for every vote cast for our five sponsored bills that are now in the second house. What it means is that progress is being made for the animals, and that hard work and perseverance is paying off.
