Calling All Artists!
New Tax Law, fresh ART, Family-Friendly Fridays, Science of Slime
New Tax Law Goes Into Effect July 1
Effective July 1, a new tax reform package passed by the Kentucky state legislature requires that BCM, like other non-profit organizations, apply a 6% sales tax to museum admissions, event tickets, memberships, gift shop purchases and other sales.

The good news is that educational programs, such as our Tot Tuesdays!, Brown Bag lunches, Chippie's Sensational Science Labs, and of course, our school programming, are not taxable.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you have questions about this legislative issue, please do not hesitate to contact your Kentucky legislative representative.
Due to the Independence Day holiday, there will be no  Music@BCM  concert this week, but come on back for the Leroy Ellington Band on July 12.
fresh ART 2018 - Call to Artists
Applications Due July 16 for Our Annual Gala & Auction
Local artists, take your marks, get set... paint! Or sculpt. Or carve. Or craft. Or sew.

We're seeking artists of all genres to participate in our 26th annual fresh ART event. Artists selected from a pool of applicants will be invited to spend September 15 and 16 in Covington’s Devou Park working en plein air to create original works to be auctioned at the fresh ART gala and auction, one of the region’s premier annual art events. The gala will take place at the museum from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 16.

All art media are welcome – watercolors, oils, charcoal, ceramics, fabric art, sculpture et al. A portion of the sale price of each auctioned piece will go to the artist; the balance will be donated to the museum, benefiting area children through BCM’s educational programs. Submitted artworks will be judged by a panel of experts, with $1000 in cash prizes awarded to the first, second and third-place entries by the William & Patricia Applegate Fund.

In addition to fresh ART, the event also will include a silent ART auction of works previously completed in the past 12 months, of any size or media. The silent ART auction opens to the public for bidding at the museum on Saturday, August 18 and continues through September 16. A silent ART reception, with an opportunity to meet the artists, takes place at BCM from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, September 1. A portion of the purchase price of silent ART auction items will be donated to the museum’s youth education programs.

Artists may apply to participate in either fresh ART or silent ART, but not both. Interested artists aged 18 and older should contact the museum at (859) 491-4003 and/or download the application forms from There is a $25 registration fee for fresh ART and the application deadline is Monday, July 16.

The application deadline for silent ART is Monday, July 30, and artwork is due to BCM by Thursday, August 9. There is no application fee for silent ART.

Since fresh ART began in 1992, more than a half million dollars has been raised, bringing educational and cultural activities to nearly a quarter-million Northern Kentucky children.

Behringer-Crawford Museum is supported in part by our members, the City of Covington, Kenton County Fiscal Court, ArtsWave, Kentucky Arts Council, the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. US Bank Foundation.
