Dear St. John's Family,

Like you and so many around our country, I have been watching the chaos at the Capitol in disbelief as the foundational processes of our government have been overrun by lawlessness.

The images we are seeing are both heartbreaking and unnerving, as they go against the core tenets of our democracy. It is incredibly difficult to comprehend how peaceful political discourse and process could descend into chaos, even in the fractured times we live in.

In the midst of these unsettling events, we know and trust that Jesus is Lord. Jesus is our Lord; Jesus is the one we place our full and ultimate trust in. When our world descends to chaos, Christ remains strong, and will sustain us through the storm.

Tonight, I ask you to join me in prayer. Pray for the peace of Christ to invade this chaos and disorder in our land. Pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to strengthen our political leaders, so they act with real integrity, truth, and clear responsibility to the laws that govern our peaceful transition of power. Pray our nation can regain a sense of respect: respect for the rule of law and respect for each other - even when we disagree. And pray that Christ's call to agape love may transform hardened hearts.

Thank you for your prayers.

Grace and Peace,
