for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety”

Amazing Grace (my chains are gone)

Give to the Winds Thy Fears
Gracious Lord,

Television usually provides me with entertainment and enjoyment. But today, news reports replayed acts of rage and moments of violence from Washington D.C. over and over on my screen. After seeing so many disturbing images it’s hard to settle myself.

But You, Father, offer comfort and healing for troubled minds. Your Word is full of people who cried out to You and found rest. I am so thankful for the peace You promise us, whatever hour of the day or night.

I give praise that You are my Protector, and that You watch over us every moment. And as I grow more assured of Your presence, my daily walk and my sleep will be so much sweeter.

In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Prayer through the Ages
O God, from whom to turn is to fall, to whom to be turned is to rise, and in whom to stand is to abide for ever. Grant us in all our perplexities your guidance, in all our dangers your protection, and in all our sorrows your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today's Prayer
Protector God, we know that our lives are in your hands and under your will. Give our hearts peace, let our bodies rest, and give our minds a calmness that comes with safety. Protect us, so we can rise to live out your will with a better spirit.

We pray in Jesus name...

For those sick with Covid19. God, heal and sustain bodies and spirits.

God, protect our vulnerable populations and our elderly and those suffering from chronic disease. Provide for the poor, especially the uninsured.

For our friends working the Covid19 front lines: Alayne Snyder, Drs. Johnny and Riny Kovoor. and Erik Lindholm.

God help the young and the strong. Give them the necessary caution to keep them from unwittingly spreading this disease.

God, help our elected officials as they allocate the vaccines for combatting this pandemic. Help them to provide more effective distribution procedures

For the media, committed to providing up-to-date information: God, help them to communicate with appropriate seriousness without causing panic.

For consumers of media, looking to be well-informed: God, help us find the most helpful local information to equip us to be good neighbors.

For those with mental health challenges who feel isolated, anxious, and helpless.

For the homeless, unable to practice the protocols of social distancing in the shelter system.

For workers in a variety of industries facing layoffs and financial hardship: God, keep them from panic, and inspire your church to generously support them.

We pray for those who mourn the loss of loved ones, whether recently or some time ago.

Lord Jesus, as we share a moment of silence together, we bring before you those needs known only to ourselves and name them in our hearts.

We pray for all families as they face the ups and downs of family life in the age of the coronavirus.

We pray for misinformation to be curbed that fear may take no hold in hearts and minds.

We ask for all these through Jesus the Christ, Amen.
