Keynote Speaker
The Rt. Rev. Robert C. Wright, the 10th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, will be our keynote speaker for the 144th Diocesan Convention.

Bishop Wright, one of  GeorgiaTrend Magazine's "Most Influential Georgians", is a dynamic preacher, teacher, and evangelist, who has focused his life in the church on the ministry of justice and reconciliation. Bishop Wright served over five years in the Navy before attending Howard University and Virginia Theological Seminary.

He served congregations in New York City and Atlanta before his election in 2012.
Recommended Reading
To prepare the convention to explore the theme of Moving Deeper, Bishop Hougland recommends delegations and clergy read Reality, Grief, Hope: Three Urgent Prophetic Tasks by Walter Brueggemann.

Drawing from correlations between the attacks on 9/11 and the destruction of ancient Jerusalem, Brueggemann explores the prophetic biblical response to crisis in the face of ideology, grief in the face of denial, and hope in the face of despair.
