Mary. Her "YES" to the angel Gabriel’s announcement that she was to be the mother of the Savior of the world continues to resound 2000 years later. And what was asked of her is asked of each of us – will we also allow Christ to incarnate Himself in our lives? In this month of May, the Church encourages us to deepen our relationship with Our Blessed Mother and through her, our relationship with Christ – for Mary always leads us to Him. As men, let us lead not only ourselves, but our families to a greater devotion to this incredible woman – the woman whose humble obedience and love crushes the head of the serpent, putting Satan and his evil spirits to flight.
There is no better way to grow in our relationship with her than by praying the Rosary – that most powerful of prayers after the Holy Mass itself. And to help all of us, Catholic Men’s Ministry has prepared our own written guide to learning and praying it – including all of its mysteries: Glorious, Joyful, Sorrowful and Luminous. Available for viewing online or for downloading and sharing with your family and friends, this guide also includes the St. Joseph Rosary! See below for more details and our thanks for Chris Schweitzer and Mike Tennyson for this invaluable contribution to our ministry on behalf of all of you. As Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton said, the family that prays together, stays together. Lead your family in the regular praying of the Rosary – you’ll be eternally thankful that you did!
And just as Mary leads us to Jesus, so her month, the month of May, leads us to June and the month of her Son and His Sacred Heart. In the last 30 years, there has been a return to this beautiful devotion to the Sacred Heart and more and more Catholic families are “enthroning” their home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. What a beautiful and powerful step to take – to invite Christ into your home to reign over it and all those who enter it. We have partnered with the Sacred Heart network to provide all of you with enthronement kits to lead your family through the preparation and prayers of enthronement – see below for details and links to information.
Brothers, never has the world needed Christ more. And it is up to us - husbands, fathers and grandfathers - to lead our families back to Him, through His Mother. St. Joseph shows us the way – we need only ask him for his powerful intercession. We’ve been called in order to be sent – into the mission field of the family and through it, into the world. Let’s get going…souls are depending on us!
