"As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then,
having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.” Acts 13:2-3 NKJV
There are a zillion different things you can do in life – a world of choices you can make – but there is something special about knowing and doing what God has called you to do.
Knowing that the Master of the Universe has a specific plan for you, and specific things for you to do, is exciting! With that said, discovering what those things are is typically a process. You discover them – as part of a lifestyle of fellowship with the Lord – by fasting and spending time with Him, and ministering to Him through your worship, praise and service. In addition, it requires you to be open to His ways and means.
When you’re open to Him, you will come to know what He is calling you to do. And as you surrender your agenda, desires and timing to Him, He will reveal how to do what He wants you to do.
In knowing what He has called you to do:
There is power.
There is focus.
There is precision.
There is certainty.
There is also inner stability. Even when responsibilities change, and God moves you to a different assignment and/or place, no matter what’s happening around you, you can remain mentally, emotionally and spiritually rooted, because you know Who has called you. Even when you are in a place of waiting for direction regarding next steps, you can rest knowing that He will reveal them.
Whether you are a newbie in the faith or a veteran, the process remains the same. Ministering to the Lord and fasting to receive His direction, backed by the fasting and prayers of others grounded in faith, helps ensure you will receive His direction and, like Saul and Barnabas, be and remain fruitful in the tasks He’s ordained for your life.
Blessings,
Minister Ann Pinkney
