Hello Fellow Osprey Parents,

In 2009, a group of dedicated parents embarked on a journey that changed the educational choices for families in Durango. As current parents of AHS 9th - 11th graders, we are so very grateful for the efforts of those founding parents 13 years ago.

We are excited about the possibilities the new building will provide the students of AHS and therefore have made gifts to the Elevate Animas Campaign. We write today to ask you to join us in making AHS a priority for your giving in 2022.

You, like us, could look past the ugly brown modular buildings to see and feel what drew us to Animas -- the opportunity for our children to have a relevant, rigorous, and engaging college preparatory experience in a community that strives to be inclusive and accepting of each student’s personal academic journey. We are excited to see what awaits our children in a building that is intentionally designed for project-based learning; a building that allows faculty the space to create and grow their curriculum to provide the best educational experience for our children; a building filled with light and state of the art equipment on the campus of Fort Lewis College. This will be a place for our children to really be able to spread their wings and soar.
The Elevate Animas Campaign is about raising the remaining 1.5 million dollars needed to turn these dreams into a reality that will benefit AHS students today and long into the future. The Campaign looks to ensure that the educational opportunities within the new building will match the capabilities this building will provide.

We are grateful to the foundations and community members who have already donated significant gifts in support of the educational opportunity this new building will provide our children. It is our time, as current parents of Animas High School, to join these other donors in investing in our children’s education.
Please consider a gift to the Elevate Animas Campaign. We have a parent goal of $150,000 and it will take all of us to successfully complete this campaign.

Warm Regards,

Maren & Chris Bicknell, Parents, Class of 2025
Sheryl & Chad Bidart, Parents, Class of 2025
Beth Poole, Parent, Class of 2024
Mary and Matt Jones, Parents, Class of 2023

AHS is greatly appreciative of all the support we have and will continue to receive to build our new Nest.
