Stewardship/Pledge Sunday November 6th, 2016
Dear members and friends of Sleepy Hollow Presbyterian Church,
Grace and peace to all of you from your Finance Elder, and  thank you for your support of the church! We are truly blessed to be part  of a church where each Sunday and in all our ministries, we feel the fruit  of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, and kindness. This is Stewardship season,  when we ask you to prayerfully consider what God is calling you to pledge  to the life of the church for the coming year. The church is self-supporting,  and relies on your pledges and gifts to support two-thirds of its annual operating  expense. This year we'd like to balance our budget and maintain our ministries,  programs, and salaries. To do that, we've set a pledge goal of $148,000.
2016 has been a terrific year in the life of the church! With your generous support, our Mexico Mission transformed teens' lives building homes for needy families, our REST team brought shelter and dignity to the unhoused community, we expanded our Justice Garden and Farm Stand, and brought hundreds of pounds of beautiful organic produce to the hungry and to the wider community.  Our Sunday services have been welcoming and nurturing for all ages with inspirational music from our music ministers and SHPC Singers, beauty from our Flower Guild, and an uplifting message from our Pastor.  Our Green Team hosted the top climate change speaker from the United Nations!  We enjoyed traditions like TLC Day and our Deacons' Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, and created a new tradition, a congregational offering of talent:  Free to Be Me!  (Check out the photo collage.) We are thriving!
November 6, 2016 is Stewardship Sunday. We'll offer up our Pledge Cards (enclosed) and then we'll celebrate with the Eldridge String Quartet and our Harvest Feast. With your generosity, the church can continue to bring God's message of love and dignity for all people to the world.  Please contact me if you have any questions.
With gratitude,
Doug Eisinger, SHPC Finance Elder
