Just a week left until our big one-day Annual Menehune Contest on Saturday, April 29 at La Jolla Shores. We can't host this event without you - our members and friends. Please spread the word and encourage all your surfing families and friends to sign up their kids if they haven't already. Friday, April 21 - is the last day to register before late fees go into effect. This contest is nearly full and we do not accept beach entrants on the day of the event. After April 21, late fees will be charged and entrants will be accepted as long as there is space in a division. We're excited to again have a great lineup of sponsors, raffle prizes, trophies, division prizes, and a silent auction for some fun trips, La Jolla Shores "stay-cation" packages, surf boards, and more. We hope you will join us!

VOLUNTEER EVENT AT BIRD'S SURF SHED
THURSDAY APRIL 27, 6-8PM
 Calling all volunteers! We welcome your participation in all areas of the surf contest: surf judging, water patrol, tallying, check in, BBQ tent, raffle booth, setup, cleanup and more. We'll be hosting a volunteer event at Bird's Surf Shed on the evening of Thursday, April 27 from 6pm-8pm. Pizza and beer will be provided. Please plan on attending, and as importantly, sign up for judging and water patrol shifts at Dave's truck. Otherwise, contact

Stephanie to get an assignment. All volunteers working 4 or more hours will receive a complimentary event t-shirt. Again, thanks for your help. We couldn't do it without you.

YOUTH SURF ART SHOW GRAND PRIZE WINNER ANNOUNCED
 Congratulations to our 2017 Grand Prize Art show winner -
Mateo Estrada Vega of Muirlands Middle School. His art, pictured above, will be featured on our 2017 Menehune Contest t-shirts. All participants and volunteers receive complimentary t-shirts. Mateo's original art, together with the top 40 pieces will be on exhibit at the La Jolla Riford Library on 7555 Draper Ave in La Jolla through mid May.

La Jolla Shores Surfing Association was invited to mount an exhibit at the Surfing Heritage & Culture Center in San Clemente.
