Book Club
Did you know that 156 people on death row have been exonerated and freed – since 1973? Honorary Mortar Board Bryan Stevenson wrote Just Mercy as a call to action to fix our broken justice system. You might have had the good fortune to hear him speak at our National Conference in 2018 or have seen the movie based on his book.

The Mortar Board Alumni Association is inviting you to participate in our Book Club, a new benefit of membership. The inaugural session will discuss Just Mercy and how we can emphasize the equity themes in Mortar Board’s purpose.

Date: August 25, 2020

Time: 7:30 – 9 p.m. Eastern

If you cannot participate this time, be sure to register for the Book Club anyway so that you’ll get notice of future books and themes. If you have any questions, please contact Cara Lisenby at [email protected]
Why attend our Collaboration in Work Groups workshop?
Thanks to the generous support of a sponsor, we are now offering registration for our leadership workshop webinar on Friday, August 7, to all for a fee of only $10. If you’re looking to gain valuable leadership and teamwork skills applicable to your career or personal life, then don’t miss out on this opportunity! The event is also open to nonmembers, so invite friends, family and coworkers to register, too.
Did you know that you can receive continuing education (CE) credits upon successful completion of the workshop? You can submit your certificate of completing the “Collaboration in Work Groups” workshop for non-pre-approved CE contact hours. The workshop will provide 3.5 total contact hours.

Whether or not your job requires you to earn continuing education units or credits, there are many benefits to attending CE programs. They allow you to advance your skills, which improves your job qualifications in today’s competitive market. This can open job opportunities for you in the future and help you to build professional connections with others in your field. You can even complete programs outside of your field and learn skills in other areas you may be interested in. Read more about the benefits of CE.
New Partner Highlight
Mortar Board is excited to announce that we recently partnered with Signature Federal Credit Union to offer credit union membership to our members.

We have also arranged for an exclusive Visa credit card with the Mortar Board logo. The card gives back to Mortar Board, and it gives you 1 point for every $1 you spend. The card has no annual fee, no balance transfer fees, and no foreign transaction fees. The interest rate is very low.
Adopt-A-Delegate
Now more than ever, chapters need your help to make ends meet since their normal projects and fundraisers have been wiped away by campus shut-downs.

Won’t you help?! When you give to our Adopt-A-Delegate program, you will help chapters pay their $350 conference fee and more. Last year, we helped eight members from seven chapters. Many more will need the help in 2020. Give any amount today.
Alcalá chapter starts "Forever Fund"
The University of San Diego’s Alcalá chapter just began an endowment for itself in the Mortar Board National Foundation. After the fund grows past a threshold of $10,000, the chapter will receive a payout each year to use for chapter programs or conference travel. Congratulations!
