A Message from the Rector

Dear Friends in Christ,

The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “All is flux. Nothing stays still. Nothing endures but change.” He came to this conclusion standing in a river. He suddenly realized he could never stand in the same river twice. Each time he stood in the river it would be different: the water, the pebbles, the shapes, and riverbed would all be new. 

Awareness that change is happening all around us all the time can be quite frightening to us especially as we get older. I’ve felt that too. We want things to stay the same and remain fixed and predictable. But we can’t. Even we change with time. The only thing that never changes is change. So in a world that is changing, what we humans do is adapt, knowing that God promises to walk with us through any change we face.

Outreach Potluck Meeting June 4

The Outreach Committee will meet tomorrow June 4 in Hughson Hall, starting with a potluck dinner at 5:30 p.m. and continuing with the meeting at around 6 p.m. Interested newcomers are welcome to join in.

Some topics for discussion include volunteering for School 30's Field Day on Thursday, June 18, updates about the Our Little Roses sponsorship and Mission Trip, and a recap of the Stitch Buffalo Collection Drive and Pop up sale. Parish Picnic June 7, 11:15 -1 (Rain or shine)

Calvary will provide a picnic lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers, salads, watermelon, ice cream and hot and cold beverages in Hughson Hall following the 10:00am service on June 7. This will be in lieu of our coffee hour. We will have a variety of games available to play. 

In order to purchase the correct amount of food, we are requesting that you use either the sign-up sheet in the reception room or the Sign-up Genius link shown here. We will need helpers to grill, set-up, and assist with supervising children’s games and activities. 

Buffalo Master Chorale Concert

The Buffalo Master Chorale is excited to present a concert here at Calvary on Saturday, June 6th at 7 p.m. Entitled “O Sing”, it is a presentation of classic and contemporary works sure to please the ears!

Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for students. Tickets are available online or at the door.

Communications Meeting

Calvary’s Pastoral Care Ministries Committee would like to recognize the great accomplishments of our congregation’s amazing young people, but we don’t want to miss anyone, so we need your help! Strawberry Sunday Coffee Hour June 14, 2026

The Fellowship Committee will be providing a special Strawberry Sunday Coffee Hour on Sunday June 14^th in the Reception Room. Please join us after the 10:00 service for fresh strawberries, strawberry shortcake or sundaes as a special seasonal treat. Coffee, tea and lemonade will also be available.

A Prayer for our Bishop Search

Gracious God, we give thanks for your loving care for the people of the Diocese of Western New York and the members of the Bishop’s Search and Transition Committees. Give us wisdom and understanding as we discern your will. We ask for the gifts of honesty, to speak the truth in love; openness to the gifts and ideas of others and to the Holy Spirit; and willingness, to see your Light shining among us and on the path ahead. Prepare for our Diocese a bishop who will be a faithful pastor, and equip us for the ministries to which we are called in these changing times. Help us to love and serve your world and one another in the Spirit of Christ, trusting in you to be our steadfast helper and guide. Amen.
