Dear Caregivers,

As a caregiver, you have one of the most important and challenging jobs in the world. You dedicate yourself to taking care of someone who needs your help, often sacrificing your own time and energy to make sure they have everything they need. Let's talk about the tools that can make your job a little easier. A caregiver’s toolbox is your guide to online websites, resources, lists of organizations that can assist you, and much more.

Below are 5 ideas to help you get you started:

1) Documentation: Keep your important paperwork in one place such as in a file box or a safe. These documents include birth certificates, social security cards and medical information. You may want to include the *Caregivers Care Plan Form listed below.*

2) Medication Lists: Prepare a list of current medications. Keep one list in your wallet and another in the file.

3) Caregiver Calendar: This is so important. Some caregivers like online calendar apps and some caregivers prefer an old-fashioned paper calendar. Write down all appointments for not only the person you are caring for but also for yourself!

4)  Organization: Use the following free sites to help organize caregiver tasks:

5) Me Time: This is probably the most important tool in your toolbox. Take time for yourself. Call a friend, sit on the deck with your favorite beverage, get some sunshine and fresh air, or listen to your favorite music and dance to it! Do something that makes you feel good!
