Planning & Zoning is seeking public comment on the second draft of updates to the Calvert Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map. Citizens who previously submitted comments are encouraged to review the new draft and provide additional feedback. Public comments for the second draft must be received no later than Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.

Do you own Agricultural Preservation District (APD) property? APD owners are encouraged to apply for the Purchase and Retirement (PAR) program now through Nov. 8.


Through the program, Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) are purchased, retired and permanently removed from the market to protect farmland from development. The approved purchase price is $6,000 per TDR.

Volunteers are needed to help clean up the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail for the Paddle and Pathway Pickup. Join CCPR, Chesapeake Beach Green Team, the Town of Chesapeake Beach, and Calvert Nature Society to walk the trail or paddle the waterways—bring your own boat or reserve a kayak. We’ll provide supplies; just dress for the weather. View the flyer for more details.
