During the evening meeting, Fisher asked Hance if the commissioners had entered into an agreement with a data center, to which the board president replied “no.”
When asked if the board had entered into a “non-disclosure agreement,” Hance replied “yes.”
“Is it top secret?” Fisher asked.
“It’s a binding legal agreement so it’s not with a data center company,” John Norris, county attorney, said.
When Fisher said he has heard rumors that there could be a plan to locate a data center on county property, Hance’s response was, “You hear lots of things on the street.”
“What I’m trying to advocate for here is more transparency because my sense is it doesn’t exist,” Fisher said.
