Two Truths And A Lie
Can you tell out of the following statements which two are true and which one is false?

  • Which statement is a lie?
  • The average level of THC in marijuana concentrates was 60.95% in 2018.
  • Delta-8 THC is a federally legal substance available for sale in the United States.
  • There has been a steady rise in past 30-day use rates of marijuana among Camanche & DeWitt 11th graders.

  • Which statement is a lie?
  • More youth in Iowa get treatment for alcohol than marijuana.
  • Alcohol was the substance with the highest past 30-day use rates among Camanche & DeWitt 6th, 8th, and 11th graders in 2019
  • Camanche & DeWitt 6th, 8th, and 11th graders feel it’s easier to get alcohol in their community that it is to get marijuana.

  • Which statement is a lie?
  • Over 50% of Camanche & DeWitt 11th graders believe there is no risk or a slight risk to using marijuana.
  • Teens who consistently learn about the risks of drugs & alcohol from their parents are up to 50% less likely to use drugs & alcohol that those who don’t.
  • More Camanche & DeWitt 11th graders disapprove with someone their age using alcohol and marijuana than Camanche & DeWitt 8th and 6th graders.

You Can't Stop What You Don't Know
The "You Can't Stop What You Don't Know" training is designed for parents/caregivers, any community member, educators, law enforcement, prevention providers, and more & will cover various youth drug trends including marijuana, opioids, over the counter drugs, legal drugs that are used and abused, alcohol changes, items used to conceal drugs and stash compartments. 

About the Presenter:
Jermaine Galloway stands at 6’9” and can look intimidating. But in fact, he’s a devoted, passionate man who cares about America’s (and beyond) youth and communities. That passion informs what he does with Tall Cop Says Stop™.  Officer Galloway has worked in law enforcement in Idaho since 1997. His various assignments have included:
  • Alcohol compliance and enforcement officer
  • Crime scene investigation
  • DUI task force
  • Officer mentoring
  • Field training officer

He spends much of his time today speaking to youth at school assemblies, professionals at drug prevention trainings and parents at town hall meetings. To date, he has trained more than 650,000 people nationwide and internationally. 

This training is FREE and will be offered twice for your convenience on Wednesday, March 24 from Noon-1 and 5:30-6:30 p.m.  

Marijuana in the 21st Century-What You Need to Know
Participants will understand the difference between todays corporately produced marijuana and what grows naturally and has been consumed in the past, identify current forms of THC consumption including edibles and vaporizers, have an understanding of marijuana concentrates, & be able to relevantly discuss the science of today’s marijuana and the harms associated with it.

About the presenter:
Living in Colorado, Ben Cort has been part of the recovery community in almost every way imaginable. Ben has a deep understanding of the marijuana issue and a personal motivation to see the harmful effects of drug and alcohol abuse minimized. Ben's first book, Weed INC., was published in September 2017 and he is currently focusing on marijuana education and consulting inside the substance use disorder treatment field. 

Copycat pot edibles that look like candy are poisoning kids, doctors say
Dr. Jane Pegg couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the pot edibles that had poisoned a two-year-old who had been rushed to the emergency room in October.

"It so shocked and appalled me … the package looked almost identical to gummies that are sold as candies in the store," the Nanaimo, B.C., pediatrician said.

The boy wasn't moving and was having trouble breathing.
