Next week is the second week of EOC testing for all students taking Algebra, Geometry, Biology, and Physical Science.  Testing dates include all classroom and online students for EOC subjects. To accommodate EOC testing this year, EOC exams will be taken before the academic day begins. The academic day will begin on a delayed start.

Please note that Wednesday is a GROWL Day and instead of reporting for GROWL Advisement, Academy, and Study Hall/Intramurals, 9th grade students will take EOC exams. If your 9th grade student is not required to take the Biology or Physical Science EOC, they do not report for GROWL.

Monday, April 30

  • Students who are not testing are not required to be at school until the academic day begins. Buses will run on their regular schedule and students arriving before 8:20 am will report to the cafeteria. Students arriving after 8:20 am and before the end of EOC testing for that day must enter the school through the cafeteria doors. Parents/guardians dropping students off can enter through the Bethany Bend entrance and continue down the side of the building facing Kings Ridge and drop students off at the cafeteria doors. Cars should exit at the Cogburn Rd. entrance.

  • During testing, students cannot enter through the front doors or be in the academic halls. A limited number of passes to the Student Center will be available only through the cafeteria.

  • We encourage students to know where their testing location is before coming to school. For a list of all room assignments for week two, see Student Testing. Students with accommodations should report to the room indicated on the room list. Once they report in, the proctor will give these students additional directions.

  • All EOC exams will be administered through students' Fulton County issued Microsoft Surface. For more information about ensuring your student's Surface is ready for testing, please see Student Testing.

Your student may arrive late rather than attend during his/her lunch period. If your student is arriving late on one of the half-day final exam days, he/she must arrive by 10:35 am. Students arriving late will remain in the cafeteria until it is time to move to the 10:40 am exam. Students riding in car pool must enter through the cafeteria doors on the north side of the building (facing Kings Ridge). Student drivers must enter through the cafeteria doors. Do not drop your student off at the front doors as they will be directed to the cafeteria side entrance. Students cannot be in the academic halls during testing.

Missed Exams:
Missed Senior Exams Due to AP Testing:
Seniors who missed a Final Exam due to a conflict with AP Exams can arrange with their teacher to make up the exam during the Final Exam window. If arrangements are not made, the student should contact the 12th Grade Administrator, Mr. Maize at Maize@fultonschools.org  to arrange to make up the exam before or after school from Friday, May 18 until Tuesday, May 22.

Missed Exams Due to Illness:
Students are expected to be present and on time on all testing days. If a student must miss a final exam due to illness, the parent/guardian must call the Attendance Office on the day of the absence in order for the student to take his/her exam on the make-up days. If the Attendance Office is not alerted, the absence will be considered unexcused.

Pre-approved Absences:
All other missed exams must receive prior approval by the student's grade-level administrator. To obtain approval the parent/guardian should email the administrator by Monday, May 14. Please include the date(s) to be missed, the subject name(s), the teacher name(s), and reason for the missed exam.
Make up exams will take place in the Student Center and will occur on: Friday, May 25, 2018 - 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

Checking Students Out:
Students will not be allowed to check out while exams are in progress. Classrooms cannot be disturbed, and students will not be allowed in the academic halls. For a student to check out prior to the end of the day (during non-exam times), please have your student bring a note to the Attendance Office at the beginning of the school day. Due to the volume, the Attendance Office cannot accept emails or phone calls at check-out time.

Course Registration  for 2018-2019
Timeline and important dates:
April 18 Third Course Verification Form distributed to students
May 24 Final Course Change deadline

On Wednesday, April 18third-round Course Verification Forms for next year's classes were distributed to 9th - 11th grade students.   The third-round is your student's last opportunity to confirm his/her requests for next year and ensure that he/she has selected a total of six credits. If the form is correct, there is no need to return the form. Changes are due now and can be turned in to the  front office.

If your student has requested to take an online course by the May 24, 2018 deadline, they must register for the online course(s) through Fulton or Georgia Virtual Schools. O nline courses cannot be requested after the May 24 deadline . Please refer to the instructions on the form for registration instructions.

Dual Enrollment courses require students to meet both the guidelines and the deadlines set-forth by both Fulton County Schools and by the dual enrollment institution of choice. A student's failure to meet any guidelines and deadlines will result in the appropriate reassignment of courses to meet graduation requirements. For more information on Dual Enrollment, please visit Cambridge Counseling

Additional resources can also be found at  www.cambridgehs.org,  "About" and "Academics." The final day to make any change to a student's courses for next year (including online) is May 24, 2018.

Device Collection
FCS Issued Surfaces
All Microsoft Surface devices will be collected in May to allow Fulton County School to perform their summer clean up of the devices. Any files saved on the Surface hard drive will be lost when the device is re-imaged. Please discuss with your child the importance of moving any important files to Cloud Storage like OneDrive. Tech Tips for Students
Technology check

Effective immediately, all students will need to restart their Surface each day
as we begi n to prepare for the April End of Course (EOC) tests.   The technology department will be sending required updates to all Fulton County devices daily, and failure to receive the updates may interfere with the optimal operation of your Surface.

If you are currently experiencing problems with your device, you will need to report the issues to the Help Desk, located in the Student Center.

Save Documents to Cloud Storage
It is a good practice to save your documents to Cloud storage like OneDrive. Saving your document allows you to access them from any device and protects against loss in case of device failure.

This summer Fulton County Schools will again perform a summer clean on all devices which means any files saved on your Microsoft Surface hard drive will be deleted. Everyone should check their Surface to ensure there are no important files that will be lost. Any important files stored in Documents, Downloads, Pictures, or Video Folders or are saved on your Desktop should be moved to OneDrive - Fulton County Schools.

If you do not see an option for OneDrive - Fulton County Schools in your File Explorer, click on OneDrive and follow the steps to link to your school account using the email, studentid@fcstu.org . Come to the Student Center if you need help setting up your OneDrive access.

Fulton County student email
It is critical for all students to check their Fulton County email every day. Daily ann ou ncements, called Cambridge Headlines, are pushed to students through their email accounts that provide  information on activities, resources, and deadlines. Also, the Cambridge Administration sends important information to all students; including information on security and safety.

To access Student Fulton County email from any device:
1. Open a web browser and go to  portal.office.com
2. Log into Office 365 using:
                              Username: studentid@fcstu.org
Password: birthdate (mmddyyyy) or their unique password
3. Once logged into Office 365, select the Mail app to view important email from Cambridge Headlines, teachers and staff.
4. The first time you access Office 365 Mail, you will need to select your time zone and save it.

Students should come to the Student Center to see Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Macleod, or the Help Desk if you are having problems with your Surface or you cannot access your email account.

For detailed instructions, download a step-by-step instruction guide.

Seniors
Senior check out and scholarship award information
Fulton County requires all graduating seniors to submit their post-graduation plans electronically through the Senior Check Out Form by May 4th.  The link may be found on the homepage of the Counseling website under Announcements at www.cambridgehscounseling.org or by visiting https://tinyurl.com/BearCheckOut.  If the student is not planning on attending a college next year, he/she should write one of the following on the form: work, gap year, military or any other specific plan.  Additional instructions are provided on the Senior Check Out Form.

An official FINAL transcript is required by the college a student plans to attend to verify graduation from high school. Final transcripts will be processed after the final grades are posted (tentative release date June 1st.)  The transcript needs to be requested through Parchment.com or the same online program that was used to send the initial transcript to the college for admissions (for example, Common Application, SEND Edu, or Parchment). If the final transcript is being sent to AN ORGANIZATION (Sorority, Fraternity, Scholarship, etc.) OR A PERSON, Parchment.com must be used.

As part of senior check out, Fulton County also requires students to report their total scholarship amount awarded for their duration at college, including the HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships, at https://tinyurl.com/BearScholarship .   The collective total of the senior class will be shared at our graduation ceremony.  Scholarship information must be submitted by Friday, May 4th.

General Information Spring Pollen and Students with Allergies & Asthma
Atlanta Allergy & Asthma said it best, "You know it's coming - as the temperatures begin to rise, so will the pollen count!

According to Allergy and Asthma experts, due to the spring-like temperatures, we are already experiencing a record amount of pollen in the air across metro Atlanta. In fact, Allergy season started early across Florida and Georgia and high pollen counts are being recorded mainly due to trees and grass. According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alan Reppert and the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, pollen is likely to continue in these areas for much of spring with some very high pollen days occurring through April and early May With this in mind, we are sharing the following general information on pollen, allergies and asthma.
