Message from the County Administrator
April is here! This month brings a lot of new and exciting developments for Camden County residents. The Camden County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking applicants to serve on the Board of Tax Assessors. We are pleased to announce that the Camden County Public Works Department, through new contractor Vector Disease Control International (VDCI), began this season’s mosquito spraying in Camden County on Thursday, April 1.

Please join us in congratulating the three Camden County employees who recently received certifications. Additionally, April is National County Government Month, so please follow us on social media as we share information about what Camden County does for you.

All Georgia residents 16 and up are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, so please visit the Georgia Department of Health and continue to follow CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Mosquito Spraying Begins April 1st
The Camden County Public Works Department, through new contractor Vector Disease Control International (VDCI), began this season’s mosquito spraying in Camden County on Thursday, April 1, 2021. The mission of Mosquito Control is to reduce levels of pestiferous and disease capable mosquitoes in an effort to protect human health, improve quality of life, and minimize any associated adverse impacts to the local economy, including agriculture, tourism, and others. The Camden County Board of Commissioners awarded this contract at their February 2, 2021, regular meeting.

Camden County Seeking Applicants for Board of Tax Assessors
The Camden County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to serve on the Camden County Board of Assessors, District 5 Appointment. The Camden County Board of Tax Assessors is a five-member board that is appointed by majority vote of the Camden County Board of Commissioners. Each County Commissioner shall nominate a member of the Board of Tax Assessors according to the district allocation. Any nominee shall be approved by a majority vote of the Board of Commissioners.  

State of Georgia Rental Assistance Program (GRA)
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) began administering the State of Georgia Rental Assistance Program (GRA) in early March 2021. GRA can help renters with their past due rent and utilities. Payment will be made directly to landlords and utility providers. DCA has provided answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQ) on their website.

The Camden Suicide Prevention Coalition and Youth Engaged in Leadership (YELP) are hosting the Spring 2021 Camden Teen Summit on Life After Graduation. Invite the teens in your life to participate in this free discussion to assist with the transition to life after graduation.

COVID Emotional Support Line
Flood Awareness Tool
Flood Awareness Tool is now available on the Camden County website to assist users with making educated decisions about potential flooding. Approximately 35% or 17,000 of Camden County’s residents live within the 100-year floodplain. Three coastal rivers flow through the County, and 50% of the land is classified as wetlands. Camden experiences the effects of sea level rise, storm surge, regular riverine flooding, and king tides.

Several Camden County Employees Receive Advance Certifications
The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the recent achievement of certifications by members of the Fleet Services Department and the Solid Waste Authority. Mechanic Brent Goble received two Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications and Landfill Operators Lindberg Carter and William Mancil received certification and recertification as Georgia Landfill Operators.

Residents Encouraged to Utilize Online Services
Camden County residents are urged to utilize online or telephone services when possible due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in our community. Although county office buildings remain open to the public, many staff members are working remotely at this time to ensure proper social distancing.
