Dear Camper Families & Staff,
I hope that all of you are well and staying safe in these uncertain times. The number one question on my mind - and I am sure on many of yours - is, "Will there be camp this summer?"
As you may have heard, the Governor of Rhode Island announced yesterday her goal for summer camps to open on June 29th. The state's guidelines, along with guidelines from the task force formed by Y-USA, the American Camp Association, and the CDC are also due out early next week.
Once we have the guidelines, we'll be in a better position to make a decision about Camp Watchaug. Please know the health of our campers and staff is our main priority. We don't yet know if we'll be able to use buses, how many children can be at camp, or what the guidelines will be for the program and all of our activities. We also need to determine how additional guidelines would impact the quality and spirit of camp.
I am sorry that I do not have a definitive answer for you yet. Please know we are in touch with camp professionals across the country, our state and local partners, and professional organizations to guide us in our decision-making process, and to ensure that if we do open camp, we are able to protect the health and safety of campers and staff.
Camp Families, pleas take just a minute to answer this 2-question survey, We are collecting every piece of information we can find, and yours is important! I will continue to be in touch as updates become available.
Take Care & Stay Safe,
Camp Watchaug Director
