Dear Scouting Family -

I’d like to update you on our situation at Camp Cherry Valley. In my last note on this topic, I shared that I was “cautiously hopeful” that we would be back at camp for year 101 and beyond.

I’d like to upgrade that forecast from cautiously hopeful to cautiously optimistic. Things are moving in the right direction so far. However, I want to be 100% transparent here: It’s not a done deal. It’s not even a half-done deal. But it’s a deal that we can see the outlines of, and at this point, we feel comfortable taking conditional deposits for next summer. Units with deposits will receive priority access to completing the booking if we are able to confirm 2024 CCV summer camp.

If we can’t confirm the 2024 CCV summer camp by the end of this year, units will be given the opportunity to either apply the deposit to summer camp at Camp Big Horn or receive a 100% refund.

Finally, thank you for all the letters, emails, and cards. We’ve received love for Cherry Valley from across the country. I often say that summer camp is the quintessential Scouting experience, and the impact our little cove has is remarkable - a testament to the power of Scouting.

Please keep your fingers crossed and the good thoughts flowing our way. We’ll let you know about additional updates as soon as we can.

Thanks for being a part of Greater LA Scouting and thanks for all you do as adult volunteers and supporters to make the magic of Scouting happen.
