Celebrate the Impact of Camp Hanover on October 18 | |
On October 18, Camp Hanover will hold the #GreatCampGive, a one-day fundraiser. Join to celebrate 66 years of Camp Hanover ministry. This year's special guests are Pesto and Tortellini, a pair of red-footed tortoises who joined Camp Hanover's menagerie this year. Throughout the day, via Facebook, Instagram, and Zoom, enjoy stories of campers, staff, and all those who have been transformed and shaped because of camp. See the event schedule online. | |
Create a Happier Christmas for Incarcerated Youth | Help Voices of Jubilee share God’s light this Advent with children who are in detention and prison. Sponsor Christmas packages and a holiday celebration for children at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center, Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Center, Richmond Juvenile Detention Center, and across the state. Each Christmas, Voices of Jubilee assembles Christmas packages for over 300 youth who are in detention or prison. We also provide food and games for a holiday party for them. Congregations, communities, and individuals can donate funds at www.voicesofjubilee.org or purchase items directly on the Voices of Jubilee Wish List. For more information, contact Rev. Strengthen Your Skills in Older Adult Ministry | Learn how to support the older adults in your congregation and community through online courses from Columbia Theological Seminary’s Center for Lifelong Learning (CLC). CLC offers four courses each year. The winter 2024 course, running January 28 through March 8, is the Process of Aging and Implications for Ministry. For spring 2024, CLC offers Theological Reflection in Older Adulthood, starting April 1 and ending May 10. Both courses meet weekly via Zoom. Register prior to December 8, 2023, for the early registration fee of $235. If you need financial assistance, scholarships are available from POAMN. | |
Application Window Closing for SDOP Grants | Each year, SDOP of Presbytery of the James awards up to $10,000 in grants to community organizations operating within the presbytery. Projects must act to reduce the effects of injustice and powerlessness. Applications are open now for the 2023 grant. Encourage your congregation’s ministry partners to apply soon. Grants must be awarded by November 1. | |
Synod Grant Deadline Approaching | Synod of the Mid-Atlantic offers a number of grants. Funds are available for disaster relief, hunger, and peacemaking projects, as well as to support new and small churches. Applications are considered twice per year. Submit your project by February 1 or August 1. | |
