Camp Naru

KAAGNY is pleased to share the launch of Camp Naru, a new nonprofit Korean American summer youth camp that aims to help Korean American children, including those who are adopted and multi-ethnic, strengthen their appreciation of Korean culture, build friendships in community, and grow in confidence and self-esteem.

The first camp session will take place from August 16-22, 2022 at Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp in Copake, NY for children ages 8-14. Please check out the website for more information and to apply: www.campnaru.org.

Naru means “ferry boat crossing” in Korean; a metaphor for a “crossing” where Korean and American culture, identity, and understanding of oneself intersect, is shared, and flourishes. Camp Naru's mission is to equip our youth and future generations with an ability to navigate life as individuals and members of the Korean American community with a sense of belonging and rich cultural heritage. Camp Naru envisions a world where kids and youth can embrace and celebrate who they are with their distinct cultural and personal identity as they engage in the world.

The fee for camp is $1,000. Financial assistance is available as Camp Naru seeks to be accessible to all Korean American youth, regardless of their financial circumstances.
