February, 2018

Even though it's February, the weather hit 60 degrees today and we're celebrating! The snow is melting (for now, anyways) and thoughts of summer camp fill our time. Hopefully camp is also on your mind!

Enclosed in this newsletter is a brief update about happenings at Starfish. Positions are open on our summer staff team (do you know someone looking for a job?), our new CIT program is enrolling amazing 11th and 12th graders from around the country, and camper programs are filling fast (camp info is here)! Our full-service conference and retreat center has bookings available for your family reunion, celebration, training, youth group, and more!

Now's a great time to get involved with Starfish, and we hope you will! Please reach out to us online or by phone (978-637-2617)...we'd love to say "hi!"
Smiles from the Campfire,
Emily, Jamie, Deana, Beth, Joe & the whole Starfish team
Program Spotlight

We're recruiting 11th & 12th Graders Who Want to Learn to be Camp Counselors

Do you know a great 11th or 12th grader who would benefit from meeting peers from around the country, being outside, taking field trips, socializing, developing leadership skills, getting certifications like first aid or lifeguarding, and having 4 or 8 weeks of amazing fun? Then you might know a great CIT candidate!

Our CIT program serves a different group than our camp programs. Rather than being geared towards current campers, the CIT program is a piece of our long-term staff recruiting efforts -  an opportunity to introduce Starfish to teens who would not have attended camp but may be interested in the type of work we do with youth.

CITs is a leadership development program open to incoming 11th and 12th graders at high schools across the country who want to get ready to be camp counselors and/or to pursue a degree in youth development, social work, psychology, teaching, or one of the many other disciplines our staff study.

Camp Enrollment is Happening Now!
If you've been thinking about applying to camp, don't miss out on Summer 2018! Or, if you know a child with emotional, behavioral, social or learning challenges who could benefit from structured, safe, nurturing program with an unique 1:1 staff-to-camper ratio, encourage them to learn more about opportunities for a life-changing summer!  We have many camp programs, including overnight camps for 5, 14 and 19 days, "first time" camps for 6-10 year olds, outdoor adventure trips, and so much more! Needs-based financial aid is available.

Siblings Can Have A Great Camp Experience Too!
As the brother, sister or relative of a Starfish camper, siblings might sometimes feel left out or different themselves. Making friends who can relate to that helps siblings to feel less "alone" or different from their peers. It's comforting for them to see firsthand that they aren't the only kid who has to have playdates outside their own home or who participates in family therapy sessions. Sibling Camp presents the perfect opportunity for children to make connections and friendships with others who "just get it." Sibling camp is open to anyone who lives with or is relatives with a child that would qualify for Starfish programs (they don't have to actually attend Starfish). Get signed up for this great program today!
