School Is Out for the Summer

Fun and learning are still in session!

Today marks the very first day of CAN's 6-week Educational Summer Camp and we couldn't be more excited! This week kicks off with tie-dying camp t-shirts and lessons like designing album covers, and stringing beads to the pattern of beats we hear in music. We're evening exploring different instruments and music from different decades, plus SO MUCH MORE we can't even fit it into this newsletter!

For the next 6 weeks our days will be filled with science, math, social studies, language arts, and nutrition lessons designed to be so fun and exploratory that you wouldn't even know they're fighting summer learning loss! Plus, time for free-play, reading, outdoor games, fun challenges, cooking and eating together.. the list goes on!

Appreciation For Key Partners

For the third year in a row, we were awarded Emergency Funds from the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop to support our eviction and utility shut-off prevention work at Hikone, GBC, and Creekside. These funds have been absolutely crucial for stabilizing families in our highest-need communities!

CAN's Sustainability work also had a big win recently! We’re so proud to have been named Phase 1 winners of the Department of Energy's SOLVE IT Prize! Our team received $80,000 to support work in the Bryant community, where we are working with residents to find solutions to Bryant's unique energy-related challenges. Now our team advances to Phase 2 where we’ll engage with local stakeholders to further develop plans for a clean energy project that benefits the community. Wish us luck!
