| | Campbell Businesses Embrace International Soccer Fever; Here's Where to Watch | | |
International soccer has arrived in the Bay Area — and Campbell businesses are getting in on the action. The Campbell Chamber of Commerce has launched a new online guide designed to help residents and visitors discover local watch parties, promotions, events, and activities throughout the tournament.
In addition to highlighting local businesses and events, the website serves as a practical resource for visitors, with information on transportation, local attractions, and Bay Area match information all in one place.
There's no shortage of ways to join the celebration. Some businesses are opening early or extending hours to show matches, while others are organizing country-themed events. One business is even offering a passport that guests can have stamped at each match they attend, with completed passports entered into a grand-prize drawing.
⚽Pro tip: Businesses are advised to review the Bay Area Host Committee's Public Viewing Playbook for tips and guidelines around marketing and promotions.

Zoning can be complicated. Campbell's new Commercial Zoning Guide is designed to make it less so.
Developed by the Community Development Department, the guide serves as a one-stop resource for brokers, property owners, and prospective tenants researching whether a proposed business use may be permitted at a specific property.
Users can access the City's interactive zoning map, review permitted land uses, and learn about applicable permit requirements and approval processes -- all in language that doesn't require a planning degree.
The guide also provides information on permit processing times, application fees, and common zoning issues that can affect site selection decisions, helping users identify potential challenges before committing to a property. As always, personalized assistance is still available from staff.
📌 Did you know? In 2024, Campbell relaxed use-permit requirements for certain uses, such as personal services, medical offices, and health studios. See the May 2024 newsletter for more info.
| | In Memoriam: Fred Sahadi, Developer of Campbell's Pruneyard (1935-2026) | | |
Fred Sahadi, the developer who transformed a former Campbell prune orchard into The Pruneyard real estate powerhouse, passed away on June 4 at the age of 91.
Sahadi was only in his early 30s when he purchased the orchard in 1968 and began developing what would become one of Silicon Valley’s earliest mixed-use projects, combining retail, restaurants, entertainment, office space, and hospitality uses at a time when such developments were uncommon.
More than 50 years later, The Pruneyard remains one of Campbell’s most recognizable commercial landmarks. The City extends its condolences to the Sahadi family and recognizes Fred Sahadi’s lasting contributions to Campbell’s economic development and community identity.
