Bible Study
Bible study is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.  Our next Bible Study will be Wednesday, July 24th at 6pm, in the Fireside Room.  Everyone is welcome to attend and no previous attendance is required. 
Social Justice Small Group
Our next Social Justice Small Group meeting will be on Sunday, July 22nd, from 7 to 8:30 pm, in the Fireside Room. During our April meeting the group chose two areas of focus to explore further: 1) Transgender and LGBTQIA human rights; and 2) expanding services to our houseless and food insecure Food Pantry patrons.  Feel free to bring a dessert to share during our meeting. All are welcome.

Make Your Next Shopping Trip Green
Patronize second hand or fair trade stores. You can buy clothes, jewelry, shoes, furniture, books, movies, and toys conscientiously.  If you cannot find what you need at a second hand store, try a fair trade store for ethically sourced products.

Safe Car Park meeting
First Congregational Church Is hosting a meeting with surrounding churches to discuss the topic of Safe Car Parks.  The meeting will be held this week on Thursday July 11th @ 7pm.  During this meeting they will discuss their plans and update on opportunities for others to see how the program might work by volunteering alongside them during their Pilot run.  
Kelley Park Sunset Walk - Japanese Obon Festival
Summer is a time for family fun and celebration! What better way to do this than by enjoying a fun and educational experience together at Kelley Park? Escape the heat! Cool off in the shade and listen to the water flow along Coyote Creek. At these events, you'll:
- Celebrate the Japanese Obon Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden
- Learn about some of the many cultures in San Jose

- Explore Coyote Creek and our natural world at night
- Watch a video of the beautiful Coyote Valley and why it is important to protect our open spaces
This is event is free of charge, and parking is free after 7PM.

Women's shelter needs
Note from Pastor Naomi
We are in need of travel-size lotions, shampoos, conditioners, disposable shavers, etc.  These and other similar items are taken to the Shelter every month and given to the women.  Currently we are completely out of all these items.  Please bring what you can and give to Angie.
SURJ Book Club

The next SURJ (Showing Up For Racial Justice) Book Club gathering will take place Sunday July 14th from 11-1pm . The first hour is devoted to silent reading and the second hour to discussion and ideas for action.  Feel free to join in at anytime.
The book club is reading "The End Of Policing" by Alex Vitale.  

The meeting takes place upstairs at Pier 402 which is at 238 Race Street in San Jose.   Peter Parris, Lighted Window Presents actor and Old Orchard School History Teacher, is the moderator for each session.
