February 9, 2017

2017 has been a challenge with its cold and snowy winter in the Fraser Valley, and we are hoping for some good weather soon for our bees.  Long cold winters like this one challenge colonies, because the bees consume a lot more food to create the energy they need to heat the hive.  Will they have enough food to sustain them? We sure hope so.

We are reopening Feb 10th at noon, after our long winter closure and would like to invite you back for honey and honey wine tastings in our week-long customer appreciation week.
2017 Customer Appreciation Week
From February 10 to the 16th we will be celebrating our annual customer appreciation week.  Normal store hours of 6 days week, (with closure all day on Mondays) will resume.   See the coupon at the bottom of our newsletter and feel free to use it.

We now have Buckwheat honey it in stock.  Grab it while quantities last.
Have you seen our new Meadery signage on the Fraser Highway?
We are very excited that the Municipality of Abbotsford has put up 2 winery signs for us.  One is near the intersection of Mt. Lehman and the Fraser Highway, and the other is on the Fraser Highway just west of the Lefeuvre Road intersection.   Thank you Municipality of Abbotsford!
Beginner Beekeeping Courses
This year we will  once again be offering our B.C. Honey Producer's Association Certified Beginner Beekeeping Course, with eight sessions, which will start Feb 20 and run until April 22, 2017. Taking the course is a great way to learn about bees, even if you are not planning on beekeeping, and provides participants with useful resources including a one year membership to the B.C. Honey Producers Association. If you are interested in the course you can find more information on our website.

This year we are also offering a Backyard Beekeeping Course for those who are interested in beekeeping but don't want the pressure of writing a formal exam. See details on our website.
Campbell's Gold wine picnic area

As you may know we were approved for a wine picnic area and look forward to better weather and opening this area for those who may want to 'sip and savour' one of our honey wines.   Keep an eye out on Facebook and our web-site for more details as we draw closer to spring.

Come and meet some of the new Team

Jenny has joined our team to assist us on the farm.  She is hoping to help most in the wine making and we are delighted to have her help.

Amy has been assisting us part-time over the last year in the store and continues to be a familiar face on weekends.

Constance joined us late last summer to work in general duties and has been a real asset in the honey production area since then.  You may see her in the store also over the coming months.

Matt and Johan are Mike's trusty right hands in the operations and beekeeping world.  We are hoping with their help that we can expand the apiary and bee production this year.

We said good-bye to Mary our Store Manager who is returning to school full time.  We have been  blessed with the caliber of staff talent over the past years, but know that the new team will work their hardest to make your farm experience enjoyable.

See you soon!
