SCOPE IT UP IN SEPTEMBER!

September is the perfect time to share how students are furthering their educational journey with SCOPE college scholarship support, how SCOPE supporters and partners are making impactful strides, and how campers are thriving at summer camp, college, and beyond.
SANFORD LAVITT EDUCATION FUND
SCOPE is invested in the long-term educational success of the children we serve. We seek to fulfill this mission by providing the children we serve with access to summer camp opportunities. Each child strives to do well in school so that they can return to camp with SCOPE support, summer after summer.

After the loss of a great SCOPE friend and longtime supporter, Sandy Lavitt, the Sanford Lavitt Education Fund was developed in 2012 as a way to honor Sandy's legacy and help campership recipients further their educational journey.
This fund is a benchmark for SCOPE, tying together camp participation of six years or more with educational commitment by offering high school graduates college scholarship support through the fund. In 2020, this vision became an aspirational achievement for SCOPE with our first two college scholarship recipients enrolling in college with the assistance of the Lavitt Fund. This school year we have been able to grow our impact by supporting 11 incoming Freshman students and our two inaugural students who have started their sophomore year. We look forward to the next steps in their educational and professional careers!

As more students move through their overnight summer camp journey with SCOPE support, the Sandford Lavitt Education fund continues to honor the memory of a dedicated SCOPE supporter while celebrating the achievements and strides made by these young men and women.
JASON LAVITT
Former SCOPE Board President & Member
Words alone cannot describe how grateful and fortunate SCOPE is to have Jason Lavitt as a supporter; a part of SCOPE since the organization’s inception, Jason and his family have been deeply committed to our mission. His late father Sandy and mother Arlene served on SCOPE’s Board of Directors and he himself served on the Board as a member and Board President. Following his tenure on our Board he remains an integral member of the campership Allocation Committee and Strategic Planning Committee, an event sponsor, and has been very involved in the development of the Sanford Lavitt Education Fund and the process of awarding college scholarship support to eligible SCOPE campership recipients.

As a Timber Lake Camp alum, Jason never misses the opportunity to join us on our SCOPE partner camp visits during the summer -- he loves to see SCOPE campers having fun, trying new activities, and feeling safe in a nurturing and caring environment. His contributions and support throughout the years have made a difference in the lives of thousands of children who return to camp year after year more engaged, confident, and independent, in preparation for next steps in their education process, hopefully in partnership with our SCOPE college scholarship support. Thank you Jason!
Princeton-Blairstown Center, Inc, New Jersey
SCOPE Northeast
For more than 113 years, the Princeton-Blairstown Center has provided
adventure-based, experiential education to historically marginalized youth. What began in 1908 as a summer camp run by Princeton University students and faculty has evolved into a wide variety of year-round programs serving young people.

Princeton-Blairstown knows the value of honing their campers’ critical 21st Century
social-emotional skills like communication, cooperation, critical thinking, creativity,
problem-solving, teambuilding, and decision-making through the Center’s initiatives, challenge courses, and high ropes courses. In addition, campers learn the value of reflection through small group conversation and a focus on one’s personal journey while developing the tools needed to navigate forward in life.
