A Day in the Life: A Camper's Experience

Whether you’re a first-time camp family or a seasoned Three Rivers crew, we know it helps to have a sense of what your child’s day will look like at camp. Every day is packed with fun, movement, and creativity—but it’s also structured in a way that keeps kids engaged and connected.

Each morning begins with drop-off at 8:45 am and a cheerful camp-wide opening meeting, where campers and staff come together to start the day with announcements, songs, or a quick game. From there, campers follow a "block schedule" that differs each day and rotates them through exciting activity areas led by our amazing counselors. These blocks are designed to keep kids active and give them a chance to try new things, work together, and make new friends. We also have several Specialists on staff for dedicated activities:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Sports & Games
  • Music & Drama
  • Nature & Science
  • Archery (Grades 3 and Up ONLY)

Campers may enjoy free swim every non-field trip day. Don't forget to send your campers with their swimsuits on! It’s a great way to cool off and build water confidence under the supervision of certified lifeguards—whether they’re practicing strokes, splashing with friends, or just chilling poolside.

We build in time for snack and lunch breaks, which campers eat with their groups in the shade, picnic-style. These quieter moments are perfect for bonding with peers and recharging for the afternoon.

At the end of the day, everyone gathers again for a closing meeting—a chance to reflect on the day, share shout-outs, and wrap up the fun before pick-up begins at 4:00 pm.

Throughout the week, different groups may head out on field trips—from nature hikes to bowling, to special adventure days. Field trips vary by age group and schedule, but they’re always a highlight!

Our camp days are full, joyful, and grounded in routine—with just the right mix of tradition, spontaneity, and magic. We can’t wait to welcome your camper to another unforgettable summer!

If you could switch places with any camp counselor for a day, who would it be and why?

"I would switch places with a Junior Counselor any day. It would be so much fun to focus on supporting the campers and counselors through hands-on experiences."

What's your best "camp hack" that parents should know?

"Always send your campers to camp with a well-packed bag of extra clothes and tasty snacks."

What's the funniest thing you've ever seen happening at camp?

"I once witnessed a camper sing Take Me Out To The Ball Game while Eye of the Tiger played in the background. It was amazing."
