ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW: NEW COUNSELOR Welcome Cassandra Santellan! Ms. Santellan joins the Counseling Department after serving the students of James Logan High School in Union City. Ms. Santellan will be the counselor for students with last names S-Z.         

NEW: ROBOTICS CLUB Congratulations to the Campolindo Robotics Club for earning two awards at the recent NorCal First Tech Challenge: 2nd Place for overall performance and the Inspire Award for community outreach. Thank you Ms. Madra for serving as the advisor for the club.

NEW: CAMPOLINDO POETRY & CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST The Campolindo Poetry And Creative Writing (PAC) Club is launching a writing contest with the submission window opening on January 18th and going until March 1st! Work in poetry, short prose, and long prose is accepted and prizes include a free writing workshop from The Intuitive Writing Project, a gift card to Sideboard or Tutu's, as well as a chance for your child to have their work published in the Lamorinda Weekly. Winners will be invited to read their work at the open-mic the club will be hosting at the library later in April. Contact club president Angeni Lieben with any questions! Students can submit through this google form. (Please note the google form link will only work for students with an @auhsdschools.org email ID.)

NEW: CAMPO LEC UPDATE LEC is back at work in the new year! Our Restorative Justice committee is maintaining the Athletic Leadership Council (ALC) and implementing restorative practices across Campo. The Education subcommittee is working on helping facilitate the upcoming Equity lesson on January 28th that all Campo students will participate in during academy. In addition, they are beginning recruitment for a new Deconstructing Race class. The Community Outreach committee has a volunteer service drive, Lunar New Year celebrations, Earth week, and is partnering with middle schools on mental health. NEW: ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK ASAP If you have not yet ordered a yearbook, do so ASAP! Unfortunately, COVID has created supply chain issues and other possible delays, therefore, this year, we are expected to place our final order earlier than usual. If you wish to guarantee a copy for you, you will need to place your order at www.yearbookcenter.com (school code 6377) before sales are closed

NEW: YEARBOOK NEWS FOR SENIORS! Deadline for nominations for Senior Superlatives ends this Wednesday. We are also looking for throwback pictures of you and your friends to incorporate into our Now and Then section. Email them to Bridget Kelly.

NEW: CODING CLUB Does your student play Minecraft Java and like to program? This Friday, the Coding Club will be starting a 3 week modding project with Fabric. At the end, everyone's mods are put onto 1 public server for everyone to join. Have your student join the discord if they're interested!

NEW: CAMPO GARDEN If your student is interested, they can help build a succulent garden in the Campolindo Sustainable Garden the afternoon of Sunday, January 23rd, weather permitting. Contact Mr. Seligman for more info.

HEALTH & SAFETY--COVID-19 Campolindo continues to work closely with Contra Costa Health Services to foster a safe school environment for students and staff.

CAMPO CONNECT PARENT ED--ACADEMIC PATHWAYS & COURSE SELECTION WEBINAR, THURSDAY, JANUARY 20th, 9:00-10:00am The next Campo Connect is online and will focus on academic pathways and the course selection process for the 2022-2023 school year. OPEN HOUSE 2022, THURSDAY, JANUARY 27th, 6:30-8:00pm Please join the entire Campolindo community for Open House 2022. During this online event, staff, student, and parent leaders will present about Campolindo’s academic and extracurricular programs. JAZZ DINNER DANCE is back and tickets are now on sale! This year’s event will be held on Sunday, February 13th, from 5:30pm-9:30pm at the Saint Mary’s College Soda Center. This is a new venue for the event and will offer more space to spread out while dining and dancing to incredible jazz music performed by Johnny Johnson’s Campolindo Jazz Band! STUDENT PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY Live music/Open Mic at Canyon Club on Sunday, January 23rd from 2-4pm. Have your student see Mr. Duffy in E11 to sign up to perform. Come out to support our student musicians and enjoy the show!

LAFAYETTE LIBRARY WINTER ART CONTEST FOR STUDENTS Mashup-Character Design Contest: Let your favorite worlds collide. Mash up a book character with another character from any realm of your choosing. Use any medium you'd like--your design, your way. We'll display your mashup at the Lafayette Library, and Fan Favorite Artists will score some prizes. Submission guidelines can be found here. Open to grades 1-12. Submission window is December 20-January 22.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS
LUNCH DISTRIBUTION We need parent help to get the lunches distributed in a timely manner. This is a quick and easy volunteer job to help get the students fed quickly! Time slots are available M-F from 12:45-1:15pm. Click here to sign up. 

JAZZ DINNER DANCE VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS We are in need of volunteers to both join the planning committee and staff the event. Need is especially greatest for volunteers from Freshman/Sophomore/Junior families to join the planning committee as this year’s event Co-Chairs, Chris House and Wei Barck, both have graduating Seniors in the Jazz Band. ATHLETICS NEWS
NEW: SPORTS ANNOUNCERS NEEDED Have you always wanted to try your hand at sports announcing, but haven't known how to go about it? Or maybe you're interested in producing live-stream events or filming them or investigating the technology underlying them? Consider working with the Campo Athletic Boosters on Campo's live-stream sports broadcast effort!! Fill out this interest form and we'll get back to you to discuss options. If your child(ren) might also be interested in live-stream broadcasting, let us know that as well, and we'll get them involved in the Live-stream Broadcast Student Club. Thanks for considering this!!

NEW: DIVING If your student is interested, please email Coach Eric Holzheimer and provide the following info: full name, mobile number, email, school (Coach Eric coaches more than one high school diving team), and grade. There was a Zoom information meeting and introduction session which was recorded--find the link to this session and other information here.

TODAY: WRESTLING FUNDRAISER Dine and Donate Day – Gott’s Roadside, 1275 S. Main Street, Walnut Creek, Tuesday, January 18th. Gott’s is donating 10% of all proceeds to our wrestling program! Take a day off from cooking and have meals at Gott’s on Tuesday, January 18th. Tell family, friends, neighbors, etc. 

INDOOR ATHLETIC ATTENDANCE RESTRICTIONS Due to the current safety concerns, the AUHSD schools are implementing a new athletic attendance policy for indoor competitions. Effective today, we are limiting indoor attendance at our home indoor athletic events to athlete family members only. This policy will be revisited weekly and adjusted as conditions change. 

BOYS TENNIS All boys interested in playing tennis in the spring need to attend a lunchtime meeting on Wednesday, January 19 in B11. Be sure to complete your sports physical and athletic clearance before tryouts.

CAMPO SWIM Registration is OPEN and can be completed through the Campo Team Unify Site. This is a THREE-STEP PROCESS, and detailed instructions can be found in the News section here. One team t-shirt, swimsuit, and swim cap are included with your contribution. Registration and team suit order deadline is Friday, January 21, 2022. Campo swim spirit wear is available for purchase here. The Spirit Wear Store will be open until Sunday, January 23.

GIRLS LACROSSE Girls lacrosse tryouts begin the week of February 7th. Please help us get a general idea on a head count by completing this survey in advance of January 24th.

NEW: NAVIANCE WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS Naviance is one of the most important apps we use in the College & Career Center. It's an app to help students prepare for the college admissions process. Its tools include self-assessments, career assessments, resume building, college research, and so much more. It's required by both students and staff for the college application process. If you want to understand what Naviance is and how to use it, then join us for a Naviance How-to Workshop on Tues, February 1, 6:30-7:30 pm in the Library.  Register here.

NEW: FRESHMEN MEETINGS The College & Career Center will be meeting with Freshmen PE classes on January 25-27 to introduce them to the CCC.  We’ll give them guidance, as well as explain the services and tools we have available for them.
 
NEW: SUMMER JOBS AT EAST BAY REGIONAL PARKS The East Bay Regional Park District will be hosting a Youth Job Fair in Richmond that will feature the various seasonal jobs that will be open during the upcoming summer. Every summer the Park District hires Lifeguards, Gate Attendants, Student laborers, Interpretive Student Aids, as well as Public Safety Student Aides. Their parks have been busier than ever as many people came out to enjoy nature during the pandemic.

We are also fully aware of how much further we need to go in order to realize the mission of our school: Campolindo strives to inspire and empower every student by fostering belonging, well-being, and accountability in an equitable learning environment. To set us up for success this year, and to establish and achieve our goals we need your input and feedback. DNI PARENT EDUCATION COMMITTEE OFFERS A NEW RACE-WORK SERIES Please join us for an education series with Dr. Lori Watson of Race-Work. Dr. Watson is tailoring a four part series exclusively for Moraga parents to intimately explore issues of race and identity, as well as learn the tools necessary to speak with our children, friends, and community members about this difficult and important topic. Participants are encouraged to attend all 4 sessions. A donation of $50 to the DNI efforts is suggested but not mandatory. Topics include: 
  • Whiteness - Defining aspects of whiteness.  
  • Children & Race - Resources for talking to children about race.
