NEW: BIAS INCIDENT REPORTING TEAM UPDATE In the fall "CHS Pulse Survey," only 74% of CHS students agreed with the following statement: "I feel like I belong in my school." The CHS Bias Incident Reporting Team plays a key role in helping us build a campus culture that reflects inclusion and belonging. UPDATE: CAMPOLINDO LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENTS Remind your student of these upcoming activities. Key Club is having a toiletries drive through February 28, which will benefit the Contra Costa County Homeless Shelter. Leadership is running an art show--if your student is interested, have them submit their art work here. Campo Track & Field is still accepting new athletes, visit campotrack.com for more details. PARENT VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED We really need help at lunch to get the students their food in a timely manner! You do not need to commit for the entire semester, you can help out whenever you are available. It's less than an hour commitment and is so appreciated! Please consider signing up!

LOOKING TO GET INVOLVED IN CAMPO PARENTS CLUB? There are so many ways to volunteer! Do you have a background in accounting or bookkeeping? We are in need of a Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer to be part of next year's board. We have various Vice President roles and committee lead positions open, as well. COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS CONFERENCE Courageous Conversations is brought to you by a group of adult allies from different youth and family serving organizations and of course, young people from the Contra Costa Community. Youths 16-18 years old are invited to join their youth leadership team and earn some community service hours. Read the flyer for details.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH Campo's BSU with the help of the Leadership classes has several events planned for the students:
  • TOMORROW: "Selma" movie viewing with all BSUs in the district in the Campo Library at 6pm. Concessions to support Miles Hall Foundation. (Feb 23)
  • Jazz in the quad by the Jazz Band featuring African American composers (Feb 28)
  • BSU meetings on Wednesdays in E8

CAMPO BUDDY PROGRAM Campo Students—Are you feeling a little lonely? Getting lost in second semester? Sign up for the Campo Buddy Program! Fill out the this google form, and we will put you in touch with an upperclassman who will be a mentor and a familiar face around campus. Any further questions can be directed to Regan Stambaugh or Cooper Lenahan.

CAMPOLINDO POETRY & CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST The Campolindo Poetry And Creative Writing (PAC) Club is launching a writing contest with the submission window from January 18th-March 1st. Students are welcome to submit poetry, short prose, or long prose. Click here for details.

VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARDS Reminder to have your student keep track of their volunteer hours! Students can earn one of two service awards: Campolindo Service Award (school award) or the President's Volunteer Service Award (a national award). For more information, visit the CPC website or Campo's website. Due to the Covid pandemic, only 20 hours are required for the 2021-2022 school year. 
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS
LUNCH DISTRIBUTION We need parent help to get the lunches distributed in a timely manner. This is a quick and easy volunteer job to help get the students fed quickly! Time slots are available M-F from 12:45-1:15pm. Click here to sign up. 

JAZZ DINNER DANCE VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS We are in need of volunteers to both join the planning committee and staff the event. Need is especially greatest for volunteers from Freshman/Sophomore/Junior families to join the planning committee as this year’s event Co-Chairs, Chris House and Wei Barck, both have graduating Seniors in the Jazz Band. ATHLETICS NEWS
NEW: ATHLETIC PE CONTRACTS To enable your Sophomore and/or Junior athlete to get school credit for their Campo Spring Sports team participation, you must complete an Athletic PE 'contract' by Monday, February 28th. For more information about the Athletic PE process, and to get a copy of the 'contract' and the 'weekly timesheets', visit the Athletic PE webpage on the Campolindo High School website.

NLI NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT SIGNING DAY RECOGNITION CEREMONY -- SPRING Date and Time TBA: If your son or daughter is interested in being recognized in our Spring NLI Recognition Signing Day, please contact AD Ray Meadows with your child's name and the name of the school they will be signing an NLI with. NCS/CIF PLAYOFFS WINTER SPORTS: Admission to all NCS/CIF Playoff games will require a ticket purchased on GoFan.co. This is for ALL spectators including students that wish to attend.

NEW: UCLA GAME LAB The UCLA Game Lab Summer Institute introduces high school students to game-making as an artistic practice, teaching them techniques and tools to develop analog and digital games that reflect their own creative vision. No previous game-making skills are required! 
  • Session A (online, virtual classroom): July 11, 2022 – July 22, 2022
  • Session B (in-person, residential): July 24, 2022 – August 6, 2022

PARENT EDUCATION
NEW: ACHIEVEMENT PRESSURE: WHAT IS IT DOING TO OUR KIDS? Miramonte Wellness Center is hosting a parent ed night on achievement pressure. Join Dr. Clark to hear how achievement pressure in schools affects today's adolescents. He will present research on the effect of achievement pressure in high school students, anxiety and depression, and how children's relationships to their parents can have an impact on their wellbeing. He will also share observations of teens from his clinical practice and how they relate to the research. Presentation will be held in the Miramonte Library, Monday, February 28, 6:30pm. (Masks required.) This event is open to all parents in the district.

NEW: START SMART: DRIVING SMART TO STAY SAFE Start Smart provides teens and their caregivers with an interactive safe driving awareness class that will illustrate how poor choices behind the wheel can have devastating impacts and will equip participants with the tools needed to make smart choices when it comes to driving. Students that attend the class will receive a certificate from CHP that they can present to insurance companies. This event is open to all AUHSD parents and their teens. NEW: IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE OUR SENIORS! Planning for year-end events are now in high gear and we really need your help to make them a success. Please sign up to help with Senior Ball advance planning, Senior Ball night of on April 30th, and Grad Night on May 27th for both advance planning and night of help. Let’s all pitch to show our kids how much we care, and to make up for all our kids missed during Covid. Many thanks in advance!

NEW: BUCK SCHOLARSHIP This program extends opportunities to extraordinary high school students in helping them overcome barriers to reach new heights. Over the years they have selected several outstanding high school students in Northern California to assist them on their journey to college. Each Buck Fellow receives the following:
  • $6,000 in funding to cover educational support such as college and summer enrichment opportunities, college test prep courses, internships, college visits, and much more.
  • One-on-One mentorship from a member of our Buck Scholar alumni network to support academic and personal growth
  • Access to a network of additional mentors: 250+ professionals in fields such as medicine, law, education, technology, and the arts
