BIAS INCIDENT REPORTING TEAM UPDATE In the fall "CHS Pulse Survey," only 74% of CHS students agreed with the following statement: "I feel like I belong in my school." The CHS Bias Incident Reporting Team plays a key role in helping us build a campus culture that reflects inclusion and belonging. CAMPOLINDO LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENTS Remind your student of these upcoming activities. Key Club is having a toiletries drive through February 28, which will benefit the Contra Costa County Homeless Shelter. LOOKING TO GET INVOLVED IN CAMPO PARENTS CLUB? There are so many ways to volunteer! Do you have a background in accounting or bookkeeping? We are in need of a Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer to be part of next year's board. We have various Vice President roles and committee lead positions open, as well. CAMPOLINDO POETRY & CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST The Campolindo Poetry And Creative Writing (PAC) Club is launching a writing contest with the submission window from January 18th-March 1st. Students are welcome to submit poetry, short prose, or long prose. Click here for details.

VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARDS Reminder to have your student keep track of their volunteer hours! Students can earn one of two service awards: Campolindo Service Award (school award) or the President's Volunteer Service Award (a national award). For more information, visit the CPC website or Campo's website. Due to the Covid pandemic, only 20 hours are required for the 2021-2022 school year.

LUNCH DISTRIBUTION We need parent help to get the lunches distributed in a timely manner. This is a quick and easy volunteer job to help get the students fed quickly! Time slots are available M-F from 12:45-1:15pm. Click here to sign up. 

JAZZ DINNER DANCE VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS We are in need of volunteers to both join the planning committee and staff the event. Need is especially greatest for volunteers from Freshman/Sophomore/Junior families to join the planning committee as this year’s event Co-Chairs, Chris House and Wei Barck, both have graduating Seniors in the Jazz Band. TODAY: ATHLETIC PE CONTRACTS DUE As a reminder, to get school PE credit for your Sophomore or Junior athlete's participation in a Campo Spring Sport, you/your athlete must complete an Athletic PE contract by today Monday, February 28th. NLI NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT SIGNING DAY RECOGNITION CEREMONY -- SPRING Date and Time TBA: If your son or daughter is interested in being recognized in our Spring NLI Recognition Signing Day, please contact AD Ray Meadows with your child's name and the name of the school they will be signing an NLI with. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
NEW: DVC SUMMER CAREER ACADEMIES These 1-2 week classes allow high school students to explore various career opportunities. Subjects include Animation, Business, Cybersecurity, Engineering/Construction/Manufacturing, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, Health, Culinary/Hospitality, Biotech, Police Academy, and Robotics. Registration opens on April 1st. More information here.

UCLA GAME LAB The UCLA Game Lab Summer Institute introduces high school students to game-making as an artistic practice, teaching them techniques and tools to develop analog and digital games that reflect their own creative vision. No previous game-making skills are required! 
  • Session A (online, virtual classroom): July 11, 2022 – July 22, 2022
  • Session B (in-person, residential): July 24, 2022 – August 6, 2022

TALKING OUR KIDS THROUGH ADDICTION. TUPE (Tobacco Use Prevention Education) is hosting an interactive workshop that will engage participants in group discussions on how to talk to young people about tobacco/substance use and intervention support. NEW: SETTING A COURSE FOR THE FUTURE Campo's core leadership and a group of interested parents met at the Campo Library last Thursday evening to discuss the central aims and mission of diversity, equity, and inclusion at our school. Our key focus areas are:
  • partnering with K-8 schools to align our work together and provide opportunities for high school students to mentor younger students with an equity focus;
  • deepening partnership with the administration for implementation of BIRT, our Bias Incident Response Team, with a focus on restorative justice and community building;
  • outreach to parents and community who want to get involved;
  • planning a community-wide United Against Hate Week next fall.

PARENT EDUCATION
START SMART: DRIVING SMART TO STAY SAFE Start Smart provides teens and their caregivers with an interactive safe driving awareness class that will illustrate how poor choices behind the wheel can have devastating impacts and will equip participants with the tools needed to make smart choices when it comes to driving. Students that attend the class will receive a certificate from CHP that they can present to insurance companies. This event is open to all AUHSD parents and their teens. IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE OUR SENIORS! Planning for year-end events are now in high gear and we really need your help to make them a success. Please sign up to help with Senior Ball advance planning, Senior Ball night of on April 30th, and Grad Night on May 27th for both advance planning and night of help. NEW: CAMP ROYAL Attention Juniors! Each year the Rotary Club of Lamorinda Sunrise sponsors one current junior to attend Camp Royal, a youth leadership program that takes place at Grizzly Creek Ranch Camp near Portola, CA. Camp Royal gathers students from high schools across Northern California and helps them develop their leadership and community action skills in a fun and engaging environment. This year's program takes place from Sunday, July 24th through Friday, July 29th. Interested? Contact Campo counselor Duane Magno for an application. Applications are due by Friday, March 4th with the Rotary Club making the official selection.
