STANLEY JAZZ CAFE The Stanley Jazz Cafe is back and Campo's Jazz Band will be performing! Please join us on Friday, May 20th, 5:30pm, at Stanley Middle School to enjoy some live jazz music performed by our local school bands. Stanley Jazz Bands, Acalanes Jazz Ensemble, Campolindo Jazz Band, and many more will be coming together for an evening of music and to honor Mr. Bob Athayde after 35 years of inspirational service to the Lamorinda Community. NEW: SUPPORTING ASIAN-AMERICAN TEENS: SOCIAL EMOTIONAL WELLNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH The Moraga School District, Campo Parent DNI, and JM DEI Committee present a free parent ed Zoom event for and by Asian/Asian-American Identifying Parents, Caregivers, and Educators. This workshop will facilitate a supportive environment for Asian/Asian-American adults to gather and learn more about how to support our young people in their social emotional wellbeing and mental health. So many of us have not had a brave, affinity space to discuss having complex conversations with young people about identity, mental health, advocacy, and historical context. Through an interactive presentation format, Dr. Soundhari Balaguru will guide us through sharing our stories, self-reflection, frameworks, and data to prepare us to support young people today in the challenges they face in school and in our communities. SENIOR MEMORY BOARDS Time to pull together your photos for the Senior Memory Boards. If this fun event is new to you, please check the instructions from the Senior Parent Night handout. Should you still need a blank memory board, they are available for pickup in the Attendance Office. If you choose to use Collage.com to print your photo, they’re taking 2 weeks to print and ship, so NOW is the time to make that purchase (about $10 for the 12”x18” college). We will collect completed memory boards starting May 1st at one of four locations: the Campo Attendance Office, 136 Hodges Dr in Moraga, 683 Carroll Drive in Moraga, or 591 Silverado Drive in Lafayette. NEW: LEARNING DIFFERENCES VIRTUAL COLLEGE FAIR GoToCollegeFairs will be hosting a college fair on Wednesday, May 4. This program focuses on opportunities for students with a history of IEPs, 504 plans, or therapeutic supports and accommodations. They can explore the many available college options and learn from experts on how to make the most of the college experience. The virtual college fair format allows students time to process information at their own pace.

COLLEGE ESSAY SUMMER WORKSHOPS The College & Career Center is offering two 2-part workshops to help Juniors applying to college understand what makes a good college essay. They will get a general overview, then we’ll work with students one-on-one to outline and draft their essay. After the workshop, we’ll continue to work one-on-one with these students until the essay is finalized. Students can register for either the June or August workshop, but not both. Space is limited. JUNIOR ACADEMIES ON THE COLLEGE PROCESS The College & Career Center is offering academies on the following dates to help Juniors understand what is involved in the college application process: April 27 and May 4, 11. Each academy covers a specific topic, such as: how to build a good college list; things you should be doing now; how to write a good college essay; what to do over the summer; the UC Application and the Common Application.
