NEW: SEPTEMBER IS SUICIDE AWARENESS MONTH Suicide is one of the leading causes of preventable death in our nation today. Education is key to prevention! Being aware of the signs associated with suicide, suicide facts and statitstics, and how to get support for at-risk youth can help save lives. Never be reluctant to get involved and always take your child's desire or intent to harm themselves seriously. Visit the NAMI website here to learn about warning signs, risk factors, and how to handle a crisis. You can also check out this flyer. Find even more suicide prevention resources on our Wellness webpage here.
NEW: COMMUNITY FORUM Contra Costa Crisis Center is holding a community forum, Youth and Suicide: How to Support Yourself, a Friend, or a Loved One. It will be held on September 9th from 4-7PM. Find the registration form here.
STILL IN NEED OF DONATIONS The Wellness Center is back up and running and serving students! With that being said, we are low on supplies. CAMPOLINDO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

NEW: A WELCOME AND OVERVIEW FROM THE BIRT TEAM Campolindo's BIRT: Bias Incident Reporting Team is here to set accountability for upholding our mission statement and keeping all students feeling safe in a welcoming learning environment. Some of us never have to ask the questions, "Will my child fit in?" "Will my child be accepted?" But all of us regardless of our race or identity need to ask those questions as if it were our own child whose well-being is in consideration. Please click the link above to read BIRT's welcome letter and learn more about how our community is working to protect and encourage all students.
NEW: BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT Hopefully, many of you had a chance to hear Ellide Smith, our Parents Club VP of Community and Inclusion speak at Campo's Back to School Night last Thursday. We are still looking for interested parents to join DNI's parent community by subscribing to our monthly Newsletter, and/or by taking on leadership roles for these subcommittees: Social Media, Student Culture, and Sponsorships and Donations. Learn more and get in touch with us at dnicampo.com.
PARENT ED SERIES The DNI Parent Education Committee is partnering with Dr. Lori Watson of Race-Work. Dr. Watson is tailoring a four part series exclusively for Campo parents to intimately explore issues of race and identity, as well as learn the tools necessary to speak with our children, friends, and community members about this often difficult and uncomfortable topic. The series will run one Tuesday evening per month from September through December. Participants are encouraged to attend all 4 sessions. Topics include:
- Language/Tools/Parameters - How to talk about race.
- Beliefs/Consciousness - Conditioning and our own journey.
- Whiteness - Defining aspects of whiteness.
- Children & Race - Resources for talking to children about race.
Please mark your calendar! Tentative date for the first one is Tuesday, September 28. Other dates are TBD. More information to follow.

MORAGA EDUCATION FOUNDATION

MEF INCREASES THIS YEAR’S GRANT TO CAMPOLINDO MEF is excited to announce that the MEF Board has voted to increase Campo’s grant for this year from $700,000 to $800,000.
For the last several years, the annual Campo grant has been $800,000, but due to Covid-related fundraising challenges, including not being able to have our annual auction gala for two years, MEF had decided to reduce its grant for this year. Thanks to the community, we had a stronger finish to last year’s campaign than anticipated and are able to reinstate the $800,000 grant for this year.
The additional $100,000 will go towards Departmental Grants (including funding for the College & Career Center, science safety equipment, and video production software) and Professional Development (supporting restorative justice training for staff).
