ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW: CSF APPLICATIONS The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) application will be completed online this semester and the submission window will run from September 1- September 22. CSF is a statewide organization that honors outstanding high school students for their academic achievements based upon each semester's grades. Complete information about CSF, including the online application form that must be completed to qualify for membership, can be found here: CSF Application. Questions? Contact Duane Magno in the Counseling Office.


NEW: CLUB DAY IS SEPTEMBER 13TH! There are over 100 clubs at Campolindo. On Wednesday at lunch, students can sign up for a variety of hobby, academic, service and affinity clubs. It is a fun and spirited day for all! If your student missed the day, a spreadsheet with all the clubs and times will be released to them and all staff. Encourage your student to sign up for several clubs! 


NEW: PSAT/NMSQT REGISTRATION IS OPEN For Sophomores and Juniors ONLY. Registration closes September 15. Test is on October 25. Click here for more information.


NEW: CAMPO PARENTS CLUB MEETING Campolindo Parents Club will be holding a general board meeting on September 19 in the Campo Library from 9-10:30am. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend. NEW: CPC BOOKCLUB ANNOUNCEMENT Parents are encouraged to visit the Campo library. Our new librarian, Liz Herring, has a whole section for parents so feel free to stop by and borrow some books. And please mark your calendars for the an evening with the author Tim Klein as he speaks about our spring 2023 season’s bookclub choice: How to Navigate Life: The New Science of Finding Your Way in School, Career, and Beyond. (October 11 at 7:30pm.) Details in DEIB section below. Stay tuned as we will soon be announcing the book for the fall meeting.

CAMPUS AND GUN SAFETY EVENT The goal of this event is to educate Moraga citizens/parents about our current campus and gun safety practices and laws in order to help prevent gun violence, including suicide, and save lives. We recognize that this is a complex topic that is difficult to discuss, but our hope is that holding an event focused on prevention and education will show that we are being proactive and thoughtful about this issue. Event will be in the CPAC on October 16, 7:00-8:30pm.


AMPLIFY THE ARTS: SUPPORTING THE CAMPOLINDO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (CPAC) Amplify the Arts was established to fundraise for upgrades and improvements to technology and equipment for the CPAC. Our goal of $650,000 will fund the replacement of original sound and lighting equipment from 2003 when the CPAC was built. The CPAC, which impacts the arts education of hundreds of students each year, also provides a vibrant arts environment for the greater community. TODAY: YOUTH SPORTS TOWN HALL KCBS is hosting a Youth Sports Town Hall, “The State of Play,” this evening, September 5 from 6:30-8:00pm at Saint Mary’s College's Soda Activity Center, 1928 St. Mary’s Road, Moraga CA. “The State of Play” will be moderated by KCBS morning news anchor emeritus Stan Bunger. Panelists include Nirav Pandya, MD, UCSF pediatric orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist; Joe Shasky, 95.7 The Game sports talk radio host; Jess Smith, Head of Revenue for Angel City FC, and Khali Blackman-Newton, Positive Coaching Alliance Director of Community Engagement, Northern California. This is a free event. Please register here. 


NEW: FEMALE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SIGN UP The Campo Athletic Boosters is sponsoring a (free) Female Strength and Conditioning Program on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm starting October 2 in Campo's Weight Room. CAMPOLINDO FOOTBALL TICKETS Football tickets for all HOME games must be purchased in advance on GoFan.co. Students with ASB and/ or Campo Boosters Card holders will be admitted without a ticket. There will NOT be cash ticket sales at the game.

NEW: UC ADMISSION NIGHT During this fundraiser for Moraga Rotary, Janelle Cardenas, Assistant Director of Admissions at UC Davis, will talk about the UC holistic review process, test blind policies, timing, and give a high level overview of financial aid. Registration required. NEW: TRIED & TRUE TUTORING Students interested in boosting their SAT score or taking the Practice ACT exam under real testing conditions should consider these opportunities! Tried & True is offering a SAT Boot Camp targeting the 10/7/23 Official SAT, and a Practice ACT Exam. Details and registration link can be found here.


NEW: MARINE MAMMAL CENTER’S YOUTH CREW PROGRAM This 8-month service-learning program is for 15-18 year old students who are interested in working with marine mammals and educating the public about ocean conservation topics. Applications for their 2024 Youth Crew Program are due September 29Apply here.


NEW: NASA DROP TOWER CHALLENGE Teams of grade 8-12 students design and build simple devices that meet challenge objectives. Proposals are due November 1, and upon selection, device preparation, testing, analysis and write ups occur through Fall of 2024. UPDATE: STANFORD ADMISSION REP VISIT For the first time in many years, an Admission Rep from Stanford will be on our campus to give two 30-minute talks to students about their school and admissions process. Interested students should attend only one of these talks since they are the same. October 4:

  • FULL - at lunchtime - NOTE: to save time, please bring your lunch on this day rather than buying it at the cafeteria  

OR at 1:30pm (signup in Naviance > Colleges > College visits). Any grade is welcome.

CAMPOLINDO WELLNESS CENTER

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! We hope you found moments of joy and summer relaxation during the break! If you are new to the Campolindo community or are a returning family, we want to provide you with important information about our Wellness Center!

What services are provided for students? 

  • Students can participate in a variety of services including mental health counseling, support and empowerment groups, referrals to community agencies and more. Wellness services provided to students are free and confidential. Students can also drop-in to the Wellness Center before/after school, lunch/brunch, and for short breaks if needed. 

How do I refer a student to the Wellness Center? 

  • You can refer a student to the Wellness Center by completing the online referral form or contacting the Wellness Center via email. You can also refer students by contacting the student's School Counselor.

CAMPOLINDO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND BELONGING

STORIES FROM OUR ROOTS FILM EVENT Miramonte students will showcase three of their award-winning films featuring the Asian-owned businesses Kibi’s Cafe, Hodo Foods, and Joan’s Chinese painting studio! There will be a panel discussion with youth filmmakers and business owners who can provide insight into their journeys and experiences in order to promote intergenerational and intercultural dialogue. These students run a collective called Stories From Our Roots that strives to promote Lamorinda Asian-owned businesses and their stories through filmmaking and community organization. Thursday, September 7, 7:30pm Orinda Theater. COMMUNITY BOOK READ Join us at Orinda Books on Thursday, September 21, 5:30-7:00pm, for an evening of conversation and community building as we kick off this year's All Community Read of They Called Us Enemy by George Takei. We'll learn about this award-winning graphic novel which details Takei's experience in Japanese incarceration camps during World War II, and reflect on the role of upstanders at pivotal moments in history. BOOK DISCUSSION REGISTRATION IS OPEN Tim Klien, co-author of How To Navigate Your Life, will lead an insightful and engaging discussion on how families can support teens in achieving a greater sense of genuine purpose. Wednesday, October 11, 7-8:30pm at CPAC. Register here for this free event. SENIOR SNACK SHACK Friday, October 27 We are hosting the Snack Shack for the best home Football game this year - against Miramonte! As the date nears, keep your eye out for the signup to contribute to the concessions and/or volunteer to spend time with fellow senior parents at the window or behind the grill that night!


SENIORS - CHECK EMAILS FROM COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER We’ll be sending out regular emails to help guide you through the college application process and inform you of important events. It’s best if you configure your auhsd email and set notifications on your phone so that you won’t miss them!


COLLEGE ESSAY HELP WITH MR. PETROCCO Once again, the fabulous Mr. Petrocco has offered to help Seniors with their college essays during lunchtime in the College & Career Center, E13. Thursdays, September-October. Seniors cannot register for more than 2 sessions per month to give other students the opportunity. Register here.


APPOINTMENTS WITH THE COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER Senior students and parents are encouraged to make a 1-on-1 meeting with one of our College Advisors if you have any questions about the college application process, including building your college list, brainstorming essays, crafting your resume, etc. Register here.

JUNIOR CLASS NEWS

NEW: SAVE THE DATE Junior Homecoming Hall decorating is on September 24. Parents and kids are welcome! Stay tuned for the SUG.


BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! Class of 2025 Parent Party will be on September 23, from 6:30-9:30pm at the Polichio’s house in Moraga. We will have live entertainment from Joyous Ashes, a Campolindo live music club band, Class of 2025 Lamorinda Idols, and a small group of Campo Choir members. Beverages, bites, and baked goods will be provided. All proceeds will go towards Junior Prom and Senior Ball. The cost is $65 per person. Sign up now!
