NEW: OCTOBER 11TH IS NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY Every year on October 11th, coming out as LGBTQ+ is celebrated! This year will mark the 33rd anniversary of this day. Coming out as LGBTQ+ still matters. When people know someone who is LGBTQ+, they are far more likely to support equality. Here are some ways you can show support on this day:
  • Support someone coming out. Coming out can be a difficult experience, especially for teenagers. Be an ally by accepting those that choose to share this part of their lives with you. If you're not sure how to show support, check out these tips from PFLAG. If you'd like local support, PFLAG has a Lamorinda branch that offers LGBTQ+ family support and community education and advocacy.
  • Don a Pride symbol to raise awareness. The symbolic representations of the different groups encompassed in the acronym 'LGBTQ+' can be a very welcome sight to see for some who feel discriminated against or alone. Raise awareness of the movements by donning a pin, or posting your support on a social media platform that you feel comfortable with. The Wellness Center has pride and pronoun pins available, let your students know!

NEW: MUGS & WATERBOTTLES. Encourage your teens to bring reusable mugs for tea and water bottles for water. We move through disposable cups fast and want to cut back on waste!

For information and details regarding programming, support groups, and educational opportunities visit our webpage or follow us on Instagram @campowellness.
CAMPOLINDO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
NEW: IN HONOR OF HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH Campo DNI Books, Media and Film committee recommends you check out our resource list on the website by clicking here. In addition we want to pass along a great book and film.
  • The Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio is a National Book Award Finalist. The author, one of the first undocumented immigrants to graduate from Harvard, reveals the hidden lives of her fellow undocumented Americans in this deeply personal and groundbreaking portrait of a nation.
  • Even the Rain is about a group of filmmakers who go to Bolivia to make a movie about colonialism only to realize not much has changed since Europeans landed in the New World. It shows how the legacy of colonialism continues to manifest itself in different ways today.
*Be sure to support our local bookstores whenever possible!

THIS WEEK: AUHSD QUARTERLY BOOK READ Miramonte will be hosting the first AUHSD Quarterly Book Read led by teacher Steve Poling. Seating is limited and masks are required. Tuesday, October 12th from 6-8pm in the Miramonte Library. RSVP here.

UNDERAGE DRINKING AND TEEN ALCOHOL USE. It's normal for parents to worry about their children using alcohol. But there are ways to help your teen cope with the pressure to drink and make better choices.
