TODAY: CAMPUS AND GUN SAFETY EVENT The goal of this event is to educate Moraga citizens/parents about our current campus and gun safety practices and laws in order to help prevent gun violence, including suicide, and save lives. We recognize that this is a complex topic that is difficult to discuss, but our hope is that holding an event focused on prevention and education will show that we are being proactive and thoughtful about this issue. CANYON CLUB FUNDRAISER, OCTOBER 19, 5-8pm. Come out and support Instrumental Music Boosters and have dinner or takeout from Canyon Club. Stay and listen to some great music by our jazz students from 6-7pm. A portion of all sales will go towards the Instrumental Music Program. No flyers or special codes needed. Hope to see you there!
MEF WEEK OF GIVING THIS WEEK, OCTOBER 16-22 This is when we focus on getting the whole community to come together an support the heart and soul of our town--Moraga’s public schools. MEF’s goal is to raise $3M this year to fund STEM, Wellness, Art, Music, Libraries, Academic Support, and so much more. These programs exist because of donors like you. We still need to raise $2.1M this year to meet our goal. Every donation makes a difference. If you haven’t donated yet, please donate or pledge today. LAFAYETTE RES RUN FOR EDUCATION The Lafayette Chamber and the City of Lafayette are co-sponsors of the Lafayette Res Run for Education which will be held on Sunday, October 22. Beneficiaries of the event are the local schools and the services and programs of the Chamber. The first 100 students from each school to sign up will receive a voucher for free candy from Zoonie's. NEW: DIG PINK TAILGATE On Tuesday, October 17 at the Acalanes vs. Campo Girls' Volleyball Game, we will be hosting a fundraiser for young women with Breast Cancer and giving away 60 PINK Tangelo frozen yogurts to students who come to the game! The game is a PINK OUT! Tailgate from 5:50-6:30pm; game to start at 6:30pm. Support Girls' Volleyball.

NEW CAMPO AWARD There is a NEW student award that students can recommend their friends for! The Compassionate Cougar Award is designed to highlight students in the Campolindo community who demonstrate empathy, kindness, and a passion to help others on an everyday basis. Details are on the Google form, which can be accessed through the QR codes on the posters in classrooms. Nominations take place throughout the month of October.

CAMPO OPEN WRESTLING Interested in wrestling? Come to open mats! It's for everyone of all skill levels who are interested in wrestling. Coming to the practices does not commit them to the sport, so everyone should try it out. The practices are in the small gym from 3:35-5:00pm and the remaining dates as of right now are: October 19, October 26. Follow @campolindowrestling for more information.

FINALS FUEL FALL ‘23, WEDNESDAY 12/20 & THURSDAY 12/21 Finals Fuel is a wonderful Campo tradition during finals week when Campo parents fund and distribute +8,000 healthy snacks to hungry and grateful students between their final exams. CAMPO SERVICE AWARDS--KEEP TRACK OF YOUR HOURS Students who volunteer in the community may be eligible for a Service Award. Completed hours and online applications will be accepted no later than April 19, 2024. CAMPO CARES Campo Cares is a confidential program started as a grant from the graduating class of 2020 to assist Campolindo students and families who are experiencing financial hardship. Working in partnership with the Campolindo Counseling Department and our Athletic Director, we provide rapid funding for essentials such as school supplies and anything that would prevent a student from participating in any Campo activity whether academic or social. Any campo student or parent can communicate their confidential request to either Ray Meadows (athletics), or their student's guidance counselor, Jennifer Thayer (A-E), Duane Magno (F-La), Amardeep Dhaliwal (Le-Roa), or Cassandra Santellan (Rob-Z). Every student at Campo deserves an equitable experience.

NEW: WINTER SPORTS Winter Sports start on October 30. Athletes need to be cleared on Sportsnet in order to try out or to start practicing. Fall Sport athletes that wish to try out for a winter sport need to contact the head coach of the winter sport to communicate their interest in trying out. Regarding the overlap of fall and winter sports seasons; athletes need to finish their current season of sport and then they will be allowed to try out AFTER their current season finishes. NEW: BOYS SOCCER Our Soccer Season is quickly approaching. If you are interested in our program, please meet with Coach Stefan on Tuesday, October 24, at lunch from 1:30-2pm in the small gym. He will give you all the information you need regarding tryouts and our upcoming season. Tryouts will begin Monday, October 30. Please mark the following dates and times on your calendar. Athletes should plan to attend all tryout sessions: Monday (6-8pm), Tuesday (6-8pm), Wednesday (9-10pm), Thursday (6-8pm), Friday (6-8pm). If you wish to try out, you must have Athlete Clearance. The clearance process MUST be completed with the online system. Athletes are NOT approved to try out or participate until they are listed as CLEAR on the SportsNet system.

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT FALL RECOGNITION CEREMONY If your senior, student athlete will be signing a NLI--National Letter of Intent--and would like to be recognized in our FALL NLI Recognition Ceremony, please email AD Ray Meadows with your senior's name, school they will be attending, and sport to be added to the list of seniors to be recognized. We will be holding a Spring ceremony as well for those that are not yet signing or decided yet by this fall. This FALL ceremony will take place on November 8, 12:50pm in the Campo Quad.
FEMALE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SIGN UP The Campo Athletic Boosters is sponsoring a (free) Female Strength and Conditioning Program on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm in Campo's Weight Room. Please use this Sign Up Sheet to sign up for as many sessions as you'd like.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST CAREER TALK Due to global warming, students are increasingly interested in this field. Environmental science brings together the fields of ecology, biology, zoology, oceanography, atmospheric science, soil science, geology, chemistry and more in a study of how natural and man-made processes affect the various biomes of Earth. A local Environmental Scientist who is passionate about this field will help students understand what it takes to become one, what they do, and what job opportunities are available. Don’t miss it! CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR March 7-9, 2024. This is a local fair and competition that leads to state, national, and international competitions. Scientific topics can include Behavioral, Biological, Engineering, Environmental, Math & Computer, and Physical Sciences. Registration deadlines are as early as December. HELIX SUMMER MEDICAL PROGRAM June 7-July 5, 2024. Helix Medical is a nonprofit organization that provides medical opportunities and education to students who are both underrepresented and lack the resources to explore the field of health. Learn about their free, 4-week in-person summer medical program with this video and apply here.
TRIED & TRUE TUTORING ACT PRACTICE TEST Saturday, November 4, 9am-1pm. It is important to take tests for many out-of-state test-optional colleges. Ex. 80% of the engineers at CU Boulder submitted ACT/SAT test scores. For STEM students ACT is the preferred exam. Register here.

SENIOR WELLNESS WEEK The Wellness Center is hosting our third annual Senior Wellness Week October 23-27. We know this can be a stressful time for our hardworking seniors and we want to provide them with some self-care activities and treats during brunch and lunch. Here is what we have planned so far:
Monday: button making at lunch
Tuesday: hot cocoa at brunch
Wednesday: therapy dogs at lunch
Thursday: spa water & parfaits at brunch
Friday: raffle & celebration at lunch!
Seniors will receive a raffle ticket for every event they attend. We will be raffling off a ton of great prizes on Friday! Gift cards and goodies galore :). More specifics to come, so tell your students to follow our Instagram @campowellness for updates!
WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS Wellness Wednesdays will start up again in October. Please let your students know of these fun offerings!

LATINX/HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH SPEAKER One opportunity for our entire community is to attend the speaker event on October 17 at 7pm at the Acalanes Library. Dr. Alberto Ledesma, assistant dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion at UC Berkeley, will be with us to share his story, his experience as an undocumented immigrant, and more about the book he authored, Diary of a Reluctant Dreamer. Please join us!
LATINX FESTIVAL Miramonte is hosting a Latinx Festival and ALL are invited! There will be music, food trucks, games and more! Please come on by October 19, from 5-7pm.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES MONTH SPEAKER On October 27, Marge Grow-Eppard, She Who Walks With Bears, will be speaking during Academy in E9. She will talk about her experience as a Native American and as the President of the CA Chapter of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women. If you're interested, please tag into Ms. Webb-Peploe's Academy.
