NEW: PRACTICE GRATITUDE Noticing and being grateful for the big and the small is a way you can find happiness each day. Today notice three things that you are grateful for and write them down, or keep them in your Notes app on your phone. It can be as simple as your cup of coffee in the morning, a beautiful leaf on the ground, something that made you laugh, or a warm home to sleep in at night.
  • If you're up for a larger challenge, continue to write down 3 things that you are grateful for every day for 21 days! Read your list at the end of each week and notice any changes to your thinking or mood. You may be surprised to find out how powerful gratitude really is. Encourage your kiddo to participate in this gratitude practice with you.

PARENT EDUCATION
NEW: TIME MANAGEMENT AND STUDY SKILLS Cynthia C. Muchnick, M.A. writes, After this challenging year of Zoom school, hybrid learning, and all sorts of unknowns for students, traditional study skills and time management strategies fell by the wayside.

Most students didn’t have the opportunity to see peers or engage with teachers face-to-face, and many kids even developed unusual sleep patterns. (How many of you had child vampires who stayed up late far beyond what is considered healthy for tweens and teens and were exhausted during the day?) And when kids did roll out of bed to attend class, they did so in pajamas, and with more of a temptation to cheat than ever before...read more here.

Next week look for parent education resources on teens and sleep.

If you have parent education topic ideas or shareable resources, please reach out to Parent Education Chairs Alicia Griffith or Chris Flitter. For information about Parent Education Opportunities, visit the parent education page on the CPC website.

  • How do I find out if my company has a matching program? Check with your company’s HR department or type your company’s name into the Double your Donations section on the How to Help page on our website.
  • I have donated through my company - how do I let you know it’s coming? The best way to let us know is to make a pledge for the total amount MEF will receive. There is a line on the pledge form where you can indicate that your company will be matching your donations. If your situation is complicated or you have questions, reach out to Executive Director Kim Matranga at MEF@moraga.k12.ca.us. Remember, it can take weeks or even months for matching gifts to come in.

  • Can you contribute your time? Volunteers are needed for roles big and small, from help planning the event to help on the day of the event. If you can contribute your time, please contact Stephanie Becker
