CAMPOLINDO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND BELONGING

NEW: YOU CAN INFLUENCE YOUR CHILDREN AND YOUR COMMUNITY DURING STAND UP TO HATE WEEK In addition to producing events that help us connect, learn and grow, the DEIB committee is also here to support parents. As we head into United Against Hate Week across Lamorinda, it is important for all of us to make time to talk about discrimination and acts of hate this week. An easy way to open up a conversation might be to simply ask if your student knows that the City of Lafayette observes a United Against Hate Week. You don’t need to supply all the content - it isn’t a lecture, just start the discussion. You Are Influential to Your Children and Your Community - Stand Up to Hate.

SEE US, HEAR US - THE RENTERS' NARRATIVE OF LIFE IN LAFAYETTE The Community Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee presents Community Conversation #6 on Wednesday, November 16 at 7pm at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center in the Don Tatzin Community Hall. Nearly 30 percent of homes in Lafayette are occupied by renters. What does it look like to pay rent in Lafayette for single parent or low, moderate and modest households? What are the challenges? What’s the silver lining? What obstacles do people encounter when trying to transition from renters to owners in Lafayette? Everyone is welcome to hear the panel discussion facilitated by Sharon K. Sobotta that includes the voices of service workers, educators, doctoral level professionals and corporate employees who will share their truths, struggles, hopes and dreams as renters.
